I’ve been a “walker” a couple of times in a parade. That’s probably the most serious job of any in the whole damn parade. I’ve had to throw little kids and drunk guys and girls away from the gap between the float and the truck/tractor. I’ve almost been beat up by angry parents for saving their kids life because it looked like I pushed their kid down when I was actually pushing him away from getting run over.

I’ve also almost got caught in that gap before. You have to have drivers who are aware too. I’d say they have the second most important job. It’s all fun and games until this stuff happens.

Former Times-Picayune photographer Michael DeMocker tweeted photos from the parade route.

What happens in this situation?

People generally just get shot if they die at Mardi Gras. If you hear that gun play it's idea to grab the Popeyes and start bookin

What are they supposed to do? Cancel the parade and tell everyone to go home?

it's going to get to the point where the whole crowd will be barricaded back.

That's how it's been for a while for the Chicago pride parade. Used to be out of control so they started doing the barricades the full length.

This city is so fricked up.

What would you suggest to do? Call off Mardi Gras because the hard rock or cancel the remaining parades because someone made a bad decision?

That’s weird The advocate quoted a witness who said the person tried cross between a tandem float and fell.

So what happens to the riders on the float that killed her because that Float is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Live in guilt and never ride in Mardi Gras again.

Did I read earlier that the person killed tried to cross between a tandem float?
