Yeah I was gonna say the same thing, I don't know how this raises more questions. Seems pretty clear what happened. I'd be relieved to find out it wasn't something worse, like she was abducted and has been sex trafficked for 42 years.

Back in the old days, me and my buddy found this little mud hole off E Jewella in Shreveport. It wasn't fit to swim in, but obviously that meant little to us. We got in and found "something" to stand on in the middle. We then figured it was a car and never gave it a second thought. Now I wonder.
It's probably still there. Call SPD and have them check it out.

Well, it's probably going to be hard to do a murder investigation at this point, especially since there's a good chance that her murderer has died by now.

A friend of my wife disappeared shortly after HS graduation. I was friends with a guy who she dated (like freshman or sophomore year so definitely wasn’t him). Just vanished without a trace and none of us have a clue what happened to her.
My wife still thinks about her, so even though this isn’t the news they wanted I can imagine they got some peace when they found out. Glad they get some closure because so many families and friends never do.

How the hell did they go so long without checking any bodies of water? And if they did check, how would they have missed it? Meaning, they didn't check.

Without following the link and reading the article, what made them look there after all this time?

The group that found the car is Chaos Divers and they have a YouTube channel about their searches, but nothing about this case yet.
I assume they received a local tip, request from a family member, or retraced her potential driving route.
That’s what happens with many of the cases with these volunteer dive teams.

Was wondering the same. Based on the article, video and google maps, it sounds/looks like maybe she was heading north up a road along the Fox River (maybe River Road) and went off the side (they’re close to the road as they’re pulling the car out).
If that’s what happened, that’s a lot of dirty-looking water to search and if there were no tracks then they would have had to have gotten “lucky” (like these divers did).

the Cajun Navy will somehow take credit for this, or at least appear in front of a camera and mic to comment

She drove home drunk and ended up in the river. Case closed.

yeah, not sure what that meant
It probably means they’re not sure yet why it happened. It could have been an accident or it could have been foul play somehow.
It could mean that, but I sort of took it to mean questioning the police back then and why they never searched the river, especially when he discussed his dad renting a plane to fly over the area.
The obvious “answer” is that she was intoxicated and/or tired after a late night of drinking with coworkers, which is why she ended up in the river.

The original MSRP for a 1981 Toyota Celica GT hatchback ranged from $3,900 to $5,600 depending on the trim level and options.

Yes it was a great car for a fair price

He could also mean why in the world did they not search the river way back then.
