Always thought that was true in Louisiana too. I used to do it all the time with my parents.

Theres a good chance the family was acting within the law.
Most states allow drinks to be served to those over 18 with parents present and with their permission.
That said the drinking age being 21 has created more problems than it has solved, especially now in the day of uber.

It’s true in a lot of states but definitely not true in Virginia. My mom ordered me a beer at restaurant in alexanderia when I was 20 and we got thrown out. Pretty embarrassing, the waitress knew what was up when my mom order a glass of wine and a beer too. Instead of just saying he can’t have any alcohol or checking my id, they waited for me to take a sip and then came over to ask for my ID.

quote:Yep. If this happened in LA, assuming the adults at the table were the parents of the minor, then they did nothing wrong. Minor can legally drink in their own residence or in presence of their parents.
Can't parents legally give their children alcohol under certain conditions?

husband must have been caught checking on the college girl's and mother's asses.

i think the restaurant may have been rightly worried they were being used as an enabler to allowing under aged drinking as far as legal and ethical liability goes
i gotta agree with everyone else that a parent sharing a drink with their kid is ok if the kid is at least a teenager but then the law may or may not agree
i didnt include a link to reddit because, well its reddit, but i think i should so the comments can be enjoyed by those who may want to read them so im adding a link to it in the OP

The second girl who had been drinking from Mom's drink did not. I did not hear the exchange, but the family left thereafter. I assume they were asked to do so.
They might have not been asked to leave, but decided to GTFO due to excessive assholishness.
In Louisiana it's also perfectly legal for a child to drink when accompanied by their parents. It's probably up to the establishment to allow it or not, but it's not illegal. Also don't know if this was in Louisiana.
Also a chance the underage girl was just a friend of the family or a college friend of the daughter. Then it's not okay, but still a total bitch move to report them to management.
Bottom line, she's a fricking cunt.

Why wasn't this woman able to save Tiger Wood's restaurant employee from being killed?
She is a failure because she couldn't stop someone who was borderline incapacitated from alcohol from being killed.
Instead she thinks she is successful because someone over 18 got a buzz.

frick that prude. I can picture her type in my head. They're all the same.
Her husband probably contemplates eating a 9mm daily.

I'm pretty confident that's what I would have done in their situation.
