Not really that much considering the cost of living now. That's essentially a supplemental income.

I’m referring to the side hustle stuff that stout was talking about

But yes, BBA about to get my PMP and possibly an A&P (there are some side hustle opportunities with an A&P).

Everyone here makes wayyy more than that and is impacted by inflation but it’s still plenty and she must have made some poor choices

He’s the same guy that tells you not to get paid to spend your money, while getting free perks like cell phone insurance.

if you aren’t a complete retard, 70k is enough to live a borderline lavish life in 99% of towns in the country. you’re trying to make a point I generally agree with, it doesn’t apply here

you might be able to do kind of ok if you had bought a house before covid and aren't worried about saving/investing for retirement. if not, you're basically broke. your housing situation is going to be shite regardless if we're being honest.

you can still take women to chili's in your 2009 corolla though. maybe even a long weekend on 30a in october too.

Is PMP valued at all? Seems like that’s been the craze over the past few years

covid is a good point. I live in a 3/2 in a place I love, and I never think about my mortgage. don’t go to applebees, travel internationally multiple times a year. I do drive a 2012 truck, because there’s nothing wrong with it. somehow, the ladies don’t seem to mind not being in the passenger seat of a car owner upside down on their payments by overspending. but again, we’re talking past each other. the OP is about a woman not being able to “survive” on 70k a year. maybe lavish wasn’t the word to use, but to act like you can’t live comfortably on 70k by yourself is keeping up with the jones’s at its finest. embodied perfectly by your 2009 corolla comment. most people don’t desire the upper manhattan fake lifestyle

But just about everywhere else in the US, $4000 is just fine especially if you’re single living with roommates.

While I’m sure she is wasting money, if the basis of your argument is that people in their30s or 40s should be expected to live with non familial roommates to make ends meet with an above median salary, there is something fundamentally broken there.

you can live comfortably on 70k in a ten plus year old vehicle and a shitty apartment/house. i won't deny that.

borderline lavish starts at 200k.

200k with a wife and couple of kids isn’t buying you a borderline lavish life style in 2023. If you’re single with no kids then I agree.

Whether it’s value has diminished or not, who knows, but it’s still a separator.

I earn around the same amount and I have to supplement my income with side hustles in middle class NOLA. No car note, I have one of those coveted sub 4% mortgages, basic living expenses, no debt

Honestly, this is the easiest time in history to make money. There are so many opportunities as a "side hustle" just on the internet alone that I don't know how anyone with any ambition and sense can't come up with something.

What are these side hustles on the internet? Honest question.
