You’re going to be crushed on here, but you’re not wrong. As long as it’s a humane dispatch it’s up to the owner.

What a weird leap to call people dog worshipers simply for thinking a psychopath that murders a dog in an airport should face severe charges.

Do you have mommy or daddy issues, or both? You might need help before this thing surfaces with violence.

There's quite a bit of difference between putting an animal down and killing it unnecessarily.

A fish Probly digs it when you flush them…..plenty to eat.

But I see what you’re saying. What makes one animal off limits and another ok to boil alive?

General its the application of the phylogenetic tree. Animals on the bottom of the tree are very rudimentary creatures. They lack the neuronal development to perceive things like "pain" or to have complex thought processes. A crawfish doesnt get "Scared", and doesnt feel pain like you and I do. It simply reacts to noxious stimuli for base survival so it can do its 2 prerogatives. Grow and reproduce. So, we as a society, have deemed them "ok" to boil alive and have a kick as boil. ( i am craving crawfish now). My favorite example of this are crabs that literally rip their own arms off and throw it at predators to say "eat this instead, I'm out" without a care in the world.

As you climb the tree animals become more complex. While they still at a base line have those simple prerogatives of growing and reproducing, we see much more complex behaviors emerge. Things that are seemingly less important for survival and seem to be something the creatures engage in for enjoyment. Things like play, forming long term bonds, group grooming , social packs. These things often do serve a purpose, but animals also enjoy them. These animals have complex neural structures like us, they feel pain in the true sense as we describe it, and often have emotions of stress and fear. That is why we use and euthanize these animals humanely.

While i agree with Pax that animals are property and owners have ultimate decision to do what they please with them, there is nothing wrong or weak with treating animals with respect and kindness. Even in the ultimate choice of ending that animals life, there are humane ways to do so. Why would one want to do that though instead of pursuing other options, such as relinquishing ownership to someone who would care for the animal? To me it is cruel not to pursue other avenues first. It is cruel to kill an animal via a method that is essentially torture like this sick woman did. Cruelty is an act of a weak person.

You can tell a lot about a society and its people on how it treats its animals. To take ownership of and to care for and protect something smaller and weaker than you isnt weak behavior. Strong men take care of things that need caring for. Do i believe someone individuals take this bond too far? Yes of course. But, look at any behavior and you will see similar examples of people "going too far". I think a man who can be callous and unkind to any creature is the weak one. The lack of compassion and tells me a lot about your character.

Probably on the spectrum. Dogs bond better with their human than most humans do.

They are underestimated
