Anyone ever thought about putting a safe room in their house... Suprised we don't hear much about them... Or some type of safe house adjoined...

Just get in your fridge.
That way you don't even have to open the door to get milk once the power goes out.

If you can afford one of those, you can afford to leave and get a hotel before the storm hits. And it still wouldn't help your flooded house.

One step ahead of you. Turned my basement into a hurricane safe room. So once it floods and power goes out, I'll be nice and dry.

Great idea. I usually get in the dishwasher but it's a little tight.

I don't want one. I fear a tree or something would fall and jam the door from opening so I couldn't get out.

a lifeboat hanging off the side of your house would be more useful than a safe room.

A safe room in an otherwise flooded house sounds like a sucky idea.

Let the dishwasher be for your girl for obvious reasons

I wondered what was inside of that blue shed.

A trailer is probably not the best place to be during a hurricane.

It worked for Indiana Jones when they were testing an A bomb. Should work for a measly cat 5 hurricane.

I'm a home builder and I saw one of those disaster proof rooms they were selling at a builders show....
my first thought was, ain't no fricking way in gods green earth would I put me and my family in that mf'er and lock the door. No. Way.

I remember hearing of this home and it's owner riding out Ivan in Pensacola.
Lower level is built to allow water to flow through. I think it also has breakaway stairs (designed that way.
