I think he’s probably referring to German style, I.e. “designer” or “hobby” games not the typical Parker Btothers types of games like Sorry, Monopoly, Risk, Clue, Life, etc. Think Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, King of Tokyo, etc.

The hobby/designer game genre has been around but has taken off into the mainstream in the last few years with some of these games being offered at retail stores like Target.

There's am equal opposite for almost everything you posted.

quote:

Television viewership #s continue to plummet.

Online streaming services are growing

quote:

Movie attendance was at it's lowest point in over 20 years last year.

Horse shite studio meddling is growing. Hopefully this reaches a breaking point and we reenter a golden age of films.

quote:

Obviously things like magazines and newspapers are dying right and left.

Online blog sites and news apps are booming.

quote:

Live sports viewership and attendance has been dropping for most sports, sometimes sharply.

Same as movies. The product is watered down and mired in corporate meddling.

quote:

Even things like toy sales are way down.

This one is sad as hell, but parents are buying an iPad or video game system instead of toys.

quote:

with all these once hugely popular things losing popularity, surely there should be other things that are exploding in popularity right?

Individuality

Folks are rapidly growing tired of old ways, traditions and culture that they don’t truly believe in or can’t make good sense of. Politics and religion seem to be high up there!

Board games have been around a long time, but mainly played by children. There has been a huge increase in popularity of board games among adults. In fact a board game cafe just opened up in Houston. The owner started by bringing a bunch of games to local breweries and setting up for people to play. The first time he did it the brewery stayed open 2 hours longer than normal because of the huge crowd of people wanting to play.

Another genre of games seeing a huge resurgence in popularity is Role Playing Games. Dungeons and Dragons is becoming more popular than it was in the 70’s and 80’s. Gaming shops are popping up all over and the new rule set (5e) has made it a challenging but easy to learn system. Streaming shows of people playing D&D are growing like crazy, with Critical Role and Aquisitions Inc. leading the way.

I’ve been playing D&D with coworkers for a couple of years now., we play every Monday night.

being a whiney pussy on social media seems to be pretty popular now

Social media is turning to an older person thing

And yes they're a bunch of whiny pussies

Facebook is losing traction with younger people. Maybe they're tired of old pussies crying all the time.

- Breweries
- Farm to table places
- Speak easies / "old fashion type bars" making a come back
- exercising / being healthy
- streaming anything (hulu, netflix, Showtime)

I am a melinaial and this is all stuff my core group of friends and I do more then anything. Not all of us are SJW's who cant figure out what sex i want to be everyday.

I usually stay away from farm to table unless I know the chef or a friend does. A lot of places are rip offs.

Didn't millenials have the highest rate of childhood/young adult obesity as compared to generations past? I believe I also saw where they have the worst eating habits.
