I have a feeling we will be waking up to sneaux especially if the temp keeps dropping like it has. I mean if in SA, Austin, college station had snow sticking at 35-37degrees we could see the same right?

Yeah it won't take 32° to have snow or make it stick.

I hope. Anything that I can use as an excuse not to go to work. Of course I live less than a mile from my office so that doesn't help.

Abandoned my girlfriend and went to a friend's in Watson thinking I'd have a better chance of snow.

At this rate, let's call it 4 am for a full changeover in BR. HRRR has backed off until 3 am, with no sleet at all right now, the column still has some cooling off to go.

Latest HRRR run lays down 8" from norther EBR out towards Kentwood. This system is certainly over performing in Texas, so a surprise like that isn't out of the realm of possibilities (low, but still
)

What does it say for the river parishes and the Gonzales/Prairieville area?

National Weather Service New Orleans LA

.UPDATE...
No changes to the ongoing Winter Weather Advisory at this time.
The process is underway, maybe 1-2 hours sooner than expected, but
the clearing line is also advanced about 1-2 hours faster.
Enhancement appearing on radar is the bright band of dendritic
snow falling into a mid-level dry layer right at the freezing
level aloft. This is causing dynamic cooling in response to
enhanced lift from jet stream dynamics of a 100+kt jet moving
through the area at this time. As a result, the lower portion of
the column is cooling faster and allowing the transition to take
place where the surface temperatures have fallen to around 34F in
southern MS. Amounts and areal extent seem on track. We are about
to release a 06Z special release balloon to assess the temperature
and wind profile of the column, which should be considerably
different than the 00Z flight. An updated Sounding Discussion will
be sent when we have the data coming in.

It’s snowing in Texas and those rain bands are going to keep blowing through SELA overnight. I’m wondering if it’s going to drop cold enough for snow though??
