Should we have a thread just to cover WAFB's 10 pm broadcast and the latest from Grimes?

Not everybody works a job where they can come and go as they please, and their boss is cool with it.

I guess if you can just stay home tomorrow with no repercussions from your boss, you don't understand why parents kind of need to know at a reasonable time the night before.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread that parents NEED to know an absolute plan. SO basically EBR expects Parents to drop what they are doing, all haul arse to pick up kids and beat the icy roads (or attempt to)

Right. And everybody's boss will be completely fine with you coming in late or not even coming in at all tomorrow. There are a lot of bitches and a-hole bosses out there that don't give a frick what struggles you have with your family and will hold that against you down the road.

It's just completely avoidable and unnecessary if they would just come out and make a decision.

If this is the case, do you the best thing to do at this point is to remain open but not be "mandatory"? Basically, be an excused absence but the school still open for those parents who need it to be?

They did this the first day of the flooding.

They canceled school while the buses were out. You had buses being turned around once they got to the school because nobody told the drivers.

These are not the best of the best you are dealing with.

Students who ride transfer buses start getting picked up at 5 in the morning.

Sounds good to me. But don't announce it an hour before school starts tomorrow. Announce it at 7pm tonight.

I thought they did an hour ago when they said they are open. I'm not saying people are wrong that they will switch and cancel in the morning, and if they do that's complete bullshite, but we don't necessarily know that will happen.

Entirely playing devil's advocate because I hear what you're saying, but is this really the responsibility of the school board? If your boss is such an a-hole that they won't tolerate you coming in late/not coming in due to schools closing day of, chances are they'll be just as much of an a-hole about you doing it at 8-9pm the night before.

If the precip doesn't end until 9 when temps have already plunged, I'm not even attempting it.

Then if the kid participates in any extra curricular activity, it can easily be 7 or later before they get home.

Louisiana has the earliest high school start times in America with an average of 740. In EBR it's 705.

I smell a lawsuit in the future if the bus slides on ice and is in an accident
