Sources in EBR: The winter weather, ice, will automatically start at the Parish line past O'neal Lane/Amite River, hence why LP is closed, EBR isn't.

If you don't want your kid out, don't send them to school. It isn't like it's college. They aren't going to fail your kid for not being in school during a possible icy day.
