It's almost gone stationary. It was moving a lot quicker an hour ago. The spots under it are getting hammered.

Ill steal Eric Webb's (@webbweather) numbers to illustrate. Assume a 15:1 snow to liquid ratio. Very reasonable for the thermo profile.

Boston radar estimating .3"-.35" of liquid falling per hour in that band.

Lets stay conservative, take .3" as the max. At a 15:1 ratio...4.5"/hr snowfall.

Just to put it on the next page for our Boston area baws.

Hasn’t been bad so far. This was at about 8am. The river behind that black fenced area is frozen.

Big snowstorms are the best. Makes for excellent day drinking weather (on the advice of many friends, family, and posters, I am ending Dry January early today )

The killer band remains just to your east. Its the one under that warm front aloft I was talking about last night.

Is that a lot?

Seriously, Is .3” per hour alot of liquid for a winter storm?

We had our first ever snow squall warning last night. A random band of snow dumped about 3 inches here (Louisville) in an hour and a half. It was nuts.

No shoveling for us thankfully. Our building has someone come plow, and we have garage parking. Have some duck and oyster gumbo in the freezer that I may get into later.

The dogs are loving this weather.

We’ve had a few gusts, but all in all it’s been pretty mild.

From what I understand the heavy stuff isn’t coming until later this afternoon.

The winds and really heavy snow are still thrashing the Cape down through Providence. Trying to get inland over the northshore (the MA one obv) but has kinda stalled just offshore.
