Hate to see it.
One of the main stations in Nola was down so this was the result.

Probably 75% of the Tesla rentals are drivers for Lyft or Uber. There is someone program in place where if they rent it will give them preferred passenger pick ups etc

they are supposed to charge at home during the night.

But the experts here say most charging is done at night, during off peak hours.
No impact to the grid at all
there should be no lines of cars during the day, according to the experts here.

Also, some chargers will limit the charge you can put in the car if other cars are waiting, and/or it's peak demand time, too

the best thing is the chargers are not regulated at all like gas pumps

no calibration on them either, because they are loopholded as a service, not a quantity of energy
wait until certain charging stations go "strip club ATM"
and charge extra fees because they can.

Chargers are largly unregulated as to their install locations. No pre-planning on electrical demand. I could build one on a corner, and F'k up the supply of the neighborhood also on that chunk of grid.

That would then cause the power company to install extra infrastructure in that area, and the costs would be passed on to ALL electric customers, in increased "line maintaince" fees

Don't mistake "You shouldn't be waiting in line during the day" for "There should be no line during the day"

Is that kind of like how other peoples vacation plans in the summer affect gas prices for all whether or not I have any travel planned?

The lines mirror the "gas crisis" of the '70's. Choosing to go without EV now thank you.

I’d also never opt for a traditional car buying experience over a Tesla again. Dealerships feel like some weird middle school dating ritual. Buying a Tesla was the most painless thing I’ve ever done.

Well, honestly, when the car market sorts itself out again, walking into a dealership and stating you will buy a car for MSRP and want to finance would have very helpful salesmen tripping over themselves to aid your buying experience.

Gas prices go up and down, the infrastructure fees for the grid never go down. I can reduce my fuel demands to lower my cost if gas gets too high.
Reducing my electric usage does not reduce those fees.

Why that charge location?

There are a lot of superchargers in Louisiana that don’t get anywhere near that kind of traffic.

For a lot of us it removes bullshite from our lives. I am glad you answered your own question

If I had one during Ida it would have been easier for me. No waiting in line for fuel. Also, we drove an S and an X from DC and it was an easy trip. We did not spend more time charging at all.

How do people have time for this? That looks like a several hour process. No way I could carve 3 or 4 hours out of my busy day to charge my car. Definitely wouldn’t want to do it on a road trip or family vacation.

Because smart people don’t do this. I never charge my Tesla at a charge station.
It’s a very simple process to avoid this.

You can certainly reduce your electricity demands though, the same way you can with gas.

People with ICE cars never have issues. They're basically perfect. Sometimes I marvel at how pleasant the people at Baton Rouge gas stations are.

You guys are salty. No one says this.

But politicians have said they want Nola to go all electric.

You are missing the big picture here, that’s not possible.

Tell us what stations you were stopping at to charge?

Can you point out the person on this board that has said or insinuated that 100% EV conversion is possible right now in any city?

I am glad that is a problem I don't have. There are not any EV charging stations within 50 miles of my house.

My home. I had access to electricity at all times. Waiting for fuel was the issue as it consumed a lot of time.

Is your house steam powered or hooked up to the grid?
