Uber is already changing the industry. It's all we use.

Uh, the one time I ever used Uber, my driver was a Middle Easterner

I talk to foreign cab/Uber drivers all the time. Most of the ones I talk to are citizens who have been here for a number of years. They're pretty hard working and quite often make comments about how unfair it is that people get by without working.

Sooooo, you sound stupid.

I've used uber in NYC, Dallas, and now Houston and I've been amazed with the service everytime. If Uber is an option in any city I'm in, a can is not getting used. There is no comparison for the value and convenience you get with Uber.

Between UberX(cheaper than a taxi), Uber Black(cheaper-slightly more expensive depending on size of group and city), and Uber Lux(expensive but you get a rolls Royce or equivalent) they hit all the price right price points.

Uber is great. So is Lyft. Convenient that you don't need cash. Faster, friendlier, more reliable. Love when friends from BR come in who have never used it. We send them a code and they get their first ride free. Then we get a credit we use for our ride home. Can't beat it.

Uber feels fancier when you get the nicer car and it doesn't have the pink furry moustache on the car. Went to the launch party for Lyft, each got $50 credits and it's been our go-to service ever since. And all the drivers we have had have been awesome.

We were going to use a cab for the first time in forever bc my company paid for them to take us to/from the Christmas party. Pre-arranged and when the cab was an hour late we grabbed a Lyft. Cab company called me when we were already at the party to see if I still needed them.

Nope, fees are static. No premiums

Fees are not static. in peak times, the app will pop a screen and you have to agree to 2x or 3x pricing depending on the demand.

Other than that, its outstanding! Used it several times in NYC and D.C.....and I may never get in a cab again. You're sent a receipt by email within minutes of getting out of the vehicle and your card is charged promptly.

This is the first I've heard of this but it really could be a game hanger. The transportation game needs some serious innovation injected into it

I could see something like this spreading into less metropolis cities eventually. If it got to BR I would be a regular

I would rather the fees adjust to demand so that you don't have the issue of an Uber not being available. In Dallas the biggest increase I saw was 25%.

Works surprising well. That little uber sticker on a normal car is a little weird, but knowing exactly who your driver is makes it worthwhile.

It's huge here in NYC. I use it to go to the airport all the time as it's cheaper than a cab.

I think it makes most sense in a place like Chicago or Boston where cabs aren't as prevelant.

This post is coming from an Uber Suburban headed to LGA.

Screw a cab, I will take an uber whenever available. I've used them in NYC, Nashville, LA and DC.. Never had a single problem

Yes. Usually around happy hour and when the bars close uber and Lyfts rates go up a bit. Even so, the app makes you aware and it's still not much more since rates are low to begin with.

But I thought I gave up culture when I moved?

Anyway, no need to derail the thread just to make some smartass comment

I am ready for it to be here. I hate not knowing how long my cab will actually get to my house or the company always having the phones busy.
