55K for a base XLT with a range comparable to 9.5 miles per gallon on a 24 gallon tank.

That's fricking retarded.

No, because it will fail to function as a truck when it comes to towing. Sure, it can tow 10,000 pounds. But estimates on auto sites since yesterday have indicated you would get from around 75 to 125 miles max range on the extended range battery.

Imagine pulling into a charging station every 75 miles with a 30'-40' trailer on a trip. No Thanks!

When you can’t drive it long distance on vacation or in an emergency it is. It’s useless. Let’s say you have to evacuate and it’s all you have, or there’s a family emergency that requires you drive long distances to help a friend or family member. You are screwed. It’s not practical, and it’s non functioning other than much shorter distances, so I wouldn’t want to rely upon that, and good luck finding a charging station in the middle of nowhere and you’re about to run out of juice.

Nope, why create more demand on our fragile electric infrastructure?

Do the part where adding millions of MWh of interconnected storage and let me know what that does. People should not think of these as consumption only devices.

I absolutely would. That truck looks awesome. It's annoying that pinhead Biden was used as a marketing prop, but I can disregard that.

At this point gas vehicles are flip phones. Their days are numbered, as superior products are on the horizon. Probably need a few more years for an electric F-150 to be fully developed, but it won't be much longer. I love my Ford truck, but I wouldn't mind not having to go to seedy gas stations to keep it going, and the front hood as a trunk seems awesome too.

This is false. Unless something like Hydrogen fuel cells or fusion is perfected very soon the market will demand gasoline ICE vehicles. Not to mention many vehicles still in use for the next several decades requiring the infrastructure to remain.

The environmental consequences of mining for lithium, disposal of old cells, and getting power from fossil fuels that power the gird are all of the ECO downsides none of the greenies want to talk about.

Get your EV if you want but realize you are trading one set of problems for another and the range and charging infrastructure just isn't there at this time.

How did so many people come to the insanely stupid idea that it’s somehow better for the environment if we all switch to electric vehicles? Do these people not know what’s required to make just one of these batteries? And they don’t last forever. They’ll have to be disposed of and replaced at some point. There will have to be millions for these batteries produced yearly going forward. Then there’s the issue of the massive increase of electric power generation that will be required to keep all these electric vehicles charged. Where’s that power going to come from? We don’t have near the capacity to generate enough electricity. And if you think we can get it from wind and solar then you’re going to be highly disappointed.

Someone help me understand the “logic” behind this whole electric car push.

It's a hip and cool feeling. EVs are cool, man. Don't worry that the power grid can't support the demand. Errybody gonna have to put panels on their houses/garages/camps to charge their own. Wait for it.

Honestly though, they are cool to drive. Like the old slot car race track, instant power off the line.

I'm no green energy person. I just want the best. ICE engines are obsolete. I understand the infrastructure issue, but for my purproses I just drive around town. When I go out of town I take an Uber to the airport. Range isn't an issue for me, but I realize it is for others.

What’s really crazy to me is that for years leftists have argued that one reason we have to get away from fossil fuels is because we will run out soon. So their answer is electric?!? How the frick do they think we will make the millions batteries for these things? Honestly. Look at all the minerals required to make even one battery, including rare earth minerals. It ain’t gonna work. It’s a pipe dream. And you’ve got to be a gullible fool to believe in it.

And that’s fine. If people want them, then they should buy them. But now Biden has this insane idea of having all vehicles be electric in a few years?!? That’s just insane.
