FORD F-150 LIGHTNING REVEALED: AN ELECTRIC TRUCK FOR THE MASSES

quote:

The most popular vehicle in the United States is going electric. Ford has revealed the F-150 Lightning, an all-electric version of its popular pickup truck due out in 2022, and it’s aggressively priced for an EV. The base model with 230 miles of range starts at $39,974, while the extended range version starts in the mid-$50,000s and can go about 300 miles.

quote:

Ford’s vehicles are still eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit, that price tag can essentially come down even more for early buyers

quote:

The extended range version sounds like it could easily knock the wind out of you, with 420kW of total power (563 horsepower) and 775 pound-feet of torque. That’s good enough to make it the quickest F-150 ever made, with the ability to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in the mid-4 second range.

quote:

The extended range Lightning is able to tow up to 10,000 pounds, which is more than what most affordable gas-powered F-150s are capable of

Nope, why create more demand on our fragile electric infrastructure?

No. I'll drive my Hemi until it explodes. That may be tomorrow or it may be in 20 years. Either way, not buying a first gen Ford electric vehicle.

The fords, GMC/chevys, and tundras a little too proud.

I’ll be looking at dodge rams for my next truck

Not unless the price of gas dictates me to switch to electric.

You know you’ve made a high demand vehicle when the Federal Government has to incentivize purchases with a $7,500 “credit”

Seeing as how a truck is more of an on demand vehicle than a commuter, it's be pretty annoying to me to have to wait for my truck to charge when I need it.

If I am going to buy a all electric truck it dam sure would not be a ghay arse Ford that Biden drives and endorses… I’d get the new all electric Hummer that has 950-1000 horsepower with 11,500 ft lbs of torque with 0-60 in 3seconds

Ford are all garbage the gas, diesel, and electric

They took an already unreliable truck and made it even more unreliable and unfixable.

I’m sure baw down at the Ford dealership is well versed in electric motor services and knows all the workings of this vehicle line like the back of his hand

curious...when the truck is being towed, do the spinning wheels recharge the batteries?

That’s assuming it can be towed with the wheels spinning it’s a Ford so you know it’s going to spend more time on a flat bed and in the shop than it will on the road

I do think we will ultimately transition to electric vehicles>. IF the current battery technology is acceptable, I still wouldn’t be comfortable buying it for another decade.
