Any chance he had to run back to his car to put the gun up...rushing to catch back up with his crew and just stuck it in between the seat?

Is it unheard of to be in a rush and not think about this? What if he was rushing and happened to already be on the driver's side of the car...feeling lazy and in a rush he just stashes it away in a spot out of clear sight.
If I'm not mistaken it was lodged in between the center console and the seat it...wasn't sitting on his dashboard or anything. If I'm wrong, just ignore me. I'm just doing a bunch of speculating.

I'm pretty sure M2 would've stuck in that case. I genuinely believe he thought he was in a situation where he had to shoot to live, and that's why he owned up to shooting. Negligent homicide would be more appropriate than manslaughter IMO but it's done now. No amount of bickering here is gonna free him or bring back Raquel's abuser.

Listen, I am one of the most OCD and routine people you would ever meet. Everything I own has its place and if it isnt there, it drives me insane. With that said, I have been in a rush before and not put something back exactly where I keep it only to later go back to move it. I don't understand why you think that is such a crazy theory.
