This whole incident is ridiculous and just another incident painting NO in a horrible light.
Regardless of if Smith had a gun or not, the shooter got out of his vehicle and approached Smiths vehicle. That removes self defense. He is a murderer.

If he's going with self defense using another human being as collateral damage while a)he was outside the vehicle b) the victims were inside the vehicle would be pretty hard to prove imo
