wut we would have no choice, a NK invasion would try and strike US bases

Respectably disagree. Invasion of the south by the north will automatically take several thousand lives of american troops. We won't take that shite sitting down.

Once the NK artillery, rockets and missiles started firing to the south ( most of it dumb just point and shoot blindly technology)

The airpower of 3 maybe 4 countries would already be flying behind their lines taking them all out. Not to mention any major troop advancement would be shooting fish in a barrel esp with some B-52's flying overhead. It would be like the first gulf way highway of death but much worse.

They would be an advancing army moving into the south againts troops in fortified positions already putting the north at another disadvantage.

We need to learn our lessons from Vietnam and wars in the mideast. You can't give an indigenous people freedom and liberty, they have to earn that for themselves as its the only way it will stick.

Wait a damn second. The South Vietnamese DID fight for themselves. WE backstabbed them and cut off ALL arms shipments to them, reneging on our promise to them. Meanwhile the Soviets gave the VC everything they wanted. The result was predictable.

But still can get the job done. No way near as good as ours, but still able to deliver a pay load. Just like what the Germans did in WW2. Shoot and forget and hit whatever. 100 lbs of radioactive waste as a pay load blown up in the air above an area. Well, you get the idea.

It won't be as easy as the Gulf War. The Gulf War was waged in a wide open desert. Korea is full of mountains and trees.

One thing to consider in this situation is the tunnels that have been discovered leading from the north to the south under the DMZ. If other tunnels exist that haven't been discovered, it's plausible that NK could get the drop on SK. How muc further NK could get past the DMZ is questionable.

when trying to get to the DMZ it could be bad. We would just drop dumb bombs on them. Linebacker 2 style

Ya boy Jong un will either last his entire life in office or get overthrown while he's young.
My only interest in that country is to see the depths of their forced labor camp situation. That shite blows my mind.

Most of you don't seem to realize that there is a North Korea that exists in Pyongyang and a North Korea that exist in the countryside.

In Pyongyang, you are going to see people praise the Kims like they are gods and whatnot. However, in the countryside, you are going to see a population (including the armed forces) that is beyond malnourished. The soldiers accept bribes, and everyone seems to do what it takes to survive. Making a blanket statement that the North Korean people wouldn't want to be liberated is a bit foolhardy.

Everyday, more and more news sources, entertainment sources (music, movies), cell phones, etc. are smuggled into North Korea. It is only a matter of time before the people start yearning for change. It will be very gradual, but it will happen.

Go watch the PBS Frontline done recently about life in North Korea under Kim Jon Un.

Unifying Korea is the only answer, but China is not going to allow S. Korea and the U.S. to be the lead

^This. But I don't think China would allow it to happen even without U. S. help, reason being is that NK is a buffer zone and China doesn't want SK/US allys on its border.

To answer the original question, yes but I have no idea when. Nothing last forever. I don't know what the final straw will be but I feel like they will eventually get overly aggressive and piss off the wrong country. That's just my guess.

There is no money in liberating North Korea. They have no natural resources worth fighting over.

S. Korea could likely take care of the little fat man all by themselves. They have something the little commie doesn't; MONEY. Two of the richest men in the world live in S. Korea.

I find the whole N. Korea thing fascinating that a people has been kept so oppressed and in the dark about how the world has changed in the last 50 years. When those people truly get a glimpse of how time has passed them by they'll drag that pudgy bastard down the street and take care of him themselves, but that's going to take time and information.
