Thank you for your post! If you have any more information about that presentation (when it occurred, who from SJA approved that speaker), please let me know!
Not sure. 4 or 5 years ago, a few of my friends have kids that went there at the time and were telling me about it. They were not too happy.

Adding to this, my wife and her sister went to SJA.
My wife is ultra conservative, but the sister turned out to be an insane blue haired tattooed leftist/communist.
It’s devastating because the sister was really sweet and normal before going to SJA.
The sister has even said she first was introduced to her new “profound ideology” from SJA.
I say this sincerely… frick SJA.
They planted that seed in her and mislead her.

Can’t imagine the amount of carpet munching that goes on at SJA

Also, there were and are openly gay boys at Catholic.
They obviously don't discourage it. Catholic High has a gay club.

How are there still Christians who maintain that Jesus sacrificed himself only for their individual, limited worldviews?
Jesus and I don’t like pedos.
Why does that offend you?

Alumni, parents of alumni, parents of current and future SJA students - the order of sisters who started SJA want you to support the “Outreach” ministry. Please read this article - Who are the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and why does a real Catholic sister see them as kindred spirits? - from the Outreach website and discern how you will proceed.
The nun quoted in your article is a member of the Sisters of the Holy Name. SJA is run by the Congregation of St. Joseph.
This is like saying Jesuit Priest James Martin is speaking for a Benedictine run school

You haven't read much, have you? If you love me, you will keep my commandments. Now go, and sin no more.

Why is that school so liberal? I remember a few years ago they had a pro-abortion speaker come talk about how her abortion was the best decision she ever made...seems very out of line with sending your kids to a Catholic $$school.
Because it’s all women and has been completely taken over by leftist white women. Nothing survives their touch.
Catholic High isn’t much better. Gene Tullier was complete arse and every teacher there other than coaches is a pussy woke liberal, especially the males.

Any church or church related school pushing homosexuality is an abomination.

I understand the confusion. Please read the OP and see that the order of sisters who began SJA, now promote Fr. James Martin, SJ and his Outreach ministry. The article you referenced, is from the Outreach ministry website. Fr. Martin will not state publicly that sexual contact outside of heterosexual, lifelong, monogamous marriage, is immoral. He does not preach accurate Catholic teaching. He also thinks “gender affirming care” for minors (meaning puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgeries) are to be decided between parents and doctors. Why then are the sisters from the order who started SJA, promoting him?

It seems like SJA has no legal, financial or moral obligation to align themselves with diocesan expectations of a Catholic school. If anyone can clarify their obligations to the diocese, please do.

I completely believe you. I know this to be the case with other students as well. It becomes toxic empathy, where the young women are brainwashed into thinking that murderers on death row, or violent men in the U.S. illegally, are the true victims of our justice system. I understand Sister Helen Prejean’s advocacy, but perhaps all these sisters would have better served the world by staying in the teaching profession. How much heartache and horrible life choices by adults, could have been avoided by correct moral formation by a united community of caring adults? Yet since the 1960s, nuns and priests have radically focused on the problems of adults, while allowing Catholic schools serving low income families to close. Extremely short sighted tragedy spurred on by “the spirit of Vatican 2”. And of course the constant fear mongering about overpopulation. It fits very nicely with the “born that way” narrative and encouraging relationships that are naturally sterile!

They are not a diocesan school but being in the geographic boundaries of the Diocese do have some adherence to the Bishop.

I’m well aware of the crap James Martin spews. I also don’t believe SJA has any members of the Congregation of St. Joseph in BR anymore.
Just like Jesuit HS NOLA doesn’t promulgate his messaging either.
SJA is far from perfect. And they have a lot to work on to fix their last 10 or so years but religious order influence on these schools isn’t how it was 30-50 years ago.

The first requirement on the new president’s job description:
[The next President will:
Be a practicing Catholic who embraces and lives the charism of the Sisters of St. Joseph.]
LINK
From the active website of the sisters, who still live in Baton Rouge, related to their advocacy in promoting LGBTQ+ identities.

I don’t remember exactly. Seems like it was not too long after my 2nd one started and that was in 2004. I never heard about that trip.

What is the history of thar club at CHS? What is it called, and what is its purpose? Is it part of a larger organization? Is it listed on the CHS website?

Your perspective is what I have heard from many parents who have been paying close attention. Thank you for sharing it.

That is very helpful! Thank you!
I think the US has gotten rapidly radicalized since 2012. We are barely 10 years past the legalization of “gay marriage”, and now we have men buying babies through surrogates and teenage girls obtaining “gender affirming” mastectomies.

Yeah gonna need more info on this.
As to the SJA situation- I really don’t think it’s as egregious as OP makes it seem. It is more liberal than my preference but it’s largely a product of young women having the views that young women have. SJA’s rules on hair and appearance alone largely shut out any transgender expression.
