Remember when February 2020, the biggest problem we were dealing with was two idiots being run over by Mardi Gras floats? We were all wondering if Latoya would cancel MG2021 because of THAT!

Fast forward to now..with no parades this year, do you think the great leaders of New Orleans are using the year they have to figure out how to best solve the float issue?

Imo there is no issue and everything should just go back to how it was before. But Latoya gonna Latoya!!

They will water it down more for sure.

Latoya is one of the least MG friendly mayors in a long time. Banning tents, ice chests, tandem floats. Trying to bully Endymion into moving routes.

Mardi Gras is a huge inconvenience to her it is plainly obvious.

I for one am beyond shocked that her "honor" allowed Jazzfest and French Quarter Fest to set actual locked in dates for those festivals to go off.

No. They are inept and cannot even manage themselves much less a city with a never ending list of problems.

No Mardi Gras in 2022 would kill the city. Mardi Gras influx keeps the city afloat. Permits, tickets, OT for cops, Alcohol sales, Restaurants fully booked, Hotels filled. They desperately need it after COVID and the extended shut down.

Nope.

I'm not a big Mardi Gras person.
But, it's brings lots of people enjoyment. Also, brings in lots of $$$. So I support it 100%.

But, Destroya loves her power.
She'll wield it as long as she can.

They'll be new(likely much less deadly) Rona strains.
Talking points will shift to things like ...
Is immunity permanent?
Is new strain able to infect vaccinated people?
Etc
Etc

It's become religion to many people.

As long as Teedy is mayor, no.
She Will. Not. Be. Bullied. And, that means, any and all disagreement.

Makes it all the more sweeter when she forces them to cancel.

Biden won though. COVID has served its purpose and fed gov will be getting these people in line soon. You're already seeing it in CA, Chicago, DC. Destroya was just too stupid to get the memo.

They opened indoor dining at 25%. NOLA has been there for months and was at 50%. This is not a Destroya pat on the back. Just facts.

if vaccine modeling is correct, we should have less than 10k cases in the entire US per day by late May/early June, which is the threshold in which Fauci has said that things could begin returning to normal

so unless things change, there would be no reason why MG could not take place as normal next year

I'm sure the doom and gloomers will disagree

I don’t understand this. Why would she want to diminish Mardi Gras? It’s a huge moneymaker for the city.

It’s not really a social issue, right? Black people have a huge part in Mardi Gras.

What’s her goal?

But they all immediately started changing their tune after Biden took office. It's not a comparison of where NOLA is relative to them, it's a comparison of where they were then and are now.

Or perhaps it's just a magical coincidence all these places decided the second Biden took office it was time to stop being stupid with these restrictions and the WHO decided then was a good time to change how cases are counted.

You rolling your wheelchair through puddles of piss and shite on your way from one sketchy French Quarter establishment to another, doesn’t count as a Mardi Gras parade
