Will LSU rename Free Speech Alley David Duke Way

In their fervor to rename streets on campus to honor persons who most represented the spirit of the street or university its only fitting to rename Free Speech Alley after David Duke. He was the ultimate free speech warrior, presenting his reprehensible and unpopular views despite the criticism and opposition he received.

You Politards are getting sadder by the day.

Just pissed that Robert Mann and his ilk get to influence the renaming of buildings and streets when they contribute so little to the betterment of society. The university and the Board of Supervisors continue bowing to these Antifa idealogues

Honestly, before today, did you even know who Raphael Semmes was?

i don't know. Seems like Jerry Shumacher and the Harper Twins did just as good a job riling people up in the late 80s.
I realize that you're just butthurt over the gradual removal of Confederate stuff, but this is a lame troll effort.

I bet you act all confused when people call you a racist, right?

Actually I did, but that is not relevant to my point. These streets and buildings were named after historical figures based upon whatever criteria was used at the time. I don't like the histories and traditions of LSU being changed based upon modern standards.
Some of these figures may have been slave owners, but they were products of their times and were doing nothing illegal by existing laws. If they deserved having a structure or street named after them due to other contributions as determined at that time then that standard should be applicable today.

Not a racist and never been called one either. If you will note I stated Duke's rhetoric was reprehensible but protected by free speech. I would respect that standard for all those with whom I disagree. Free Speech Alley was aptly named.

I honestly thought he was a basketball player until ~97. Thanks Yahoo! and new computer lab our tech fee paid for.
But as to the OP, I say Free Speech Alley should do some kind of tribute to the diversity and dedication to the 1st Amendment over the decades, including David Duke's absurd rants and some of the civil-rights era speakers.
I was present for some of the bizarre rants in early 90s by the over-zealous self-proclaimed 'whore turned woman of God'.
I can still hear her yelling,
"WHORES AND WHOREMONGERS. ALL OF YOU ARE GOING TO HELL!!!"

You've been called one now, because you are one and here's why: of all the people in the world one might chose as an exemplar of free speech, you chose David Freakin' Duke.

Yea no way no how should he get a street name. But he did exemplify the tolerance and the concept of FREE SPEECH Alley. Just like anyone who ranted about jibberish and shite up there on any given day.

This is the very definition of a "try hard".

I can think of no figure who more fully utilized free speech alley.
...and I once watched Jesus have a boxing match with the Devil in said space.

If you had been at LSU during Duke's days in Free Speech Alley you would understand why I made the comment. It was in jest and if you would have taken it in context with the rest of my post you should understand it. Of course its easier for you to hide behind the racist tag than to truly embrace free speech even with those with different views.

So you were there?
First black football player was around that time, '72. Seems weird they didn't have the talent back then to make the team.
