My citrus trees took a beating due to the snow and ice in south Louisiana this year. Most of them look green and healthy, but I was wondering if i should expect them to no produce fruit this year.

Anyone know? I don't see blooms yet, but it could be a bit early.

As long as the growth is above the graft line you should be good.

I haven't seen a single bloom on any of mine....I think they should have small fruit on them by now if they were going to produce anything.

ETA: seems to me like that cold, wet spring that we had kind of fricked up their minds.

My trees bloomed 2 months ago, the satsuma is loaded with fruit about 1" in diameter, the naval didn't bloom very much.
If your trees are alive, the will most likely make fruit again but I doubt you'll get much this year. It's kind of late for the trees to bloom now.

Looks like no lemon or grapefruit for me this year.

My Key Lime tree took a beating.. No flowers so far..It has a bunch of dead branches that I haven't cut back, probably like half the tree died.

They bloom in like February. Yeah a late freeze is no bueno for them for the current years fruit. Help it out though, fertilize it, and help it grow and next year's crop should be great.

My meyer lemon is in the same shape...I cut a bunch of dead wood off and the foliage looks great. afraid there will be no lemons this year, though.

I thought citrus trees produced well after cold winters? If taken care of correctly. I’m kinda stupid though.

Oh yea. And not just FRUIT either-
Deh also make rats, snakes, red wasps....
Fallen and fermented citrus is not good either considering it is rotten and could make an animal sick and trip.

My satsuma tree has a handful of fruits growing.

Nothing else looks promising.

Satsumas already on the tree are better after a cold snap. I read the cold temps trigger something with the sugar content.

Yes. My satsuma is already putting out what will be the edible fruit in December.

I have two orange trees that survived, one has an unusually large amount of fruit the better tree traditional is full of foliage but not a single orange.

Seems like it is way past time to bloom the oranges are already about 2.5 - 3" in diameter.

We have 2 orange trees, both are half dead, both are full of fruit on the green branches, I don’t think we’ll see a major drop off this year. I was just checking them right before dark, over half the dead branches are still pliable. I’m curious to see if they come back next year, not sure if I should prune them yet.

My small Meyer lemon tree bit the dust this past winter. Orange tree died back but new growth looks healthy. Satsuma is going gangbusters and the fruit are size of large marbles.
