Fort Polk recorded exactly one inch from it. Unfortunately, they also got some 25-30mph wind gusts to go along with it.

The fires here aren’t near enough to create weather other than some wind. That takes huge fires.

Last night's radar would contradict that.

ETA: In these instances it isn't the fire so much creating weather. It is more that it becomes a forcing mechanism to amplify weather already in the area. That would happen more out West if the environment supported it. It is usually bone dry out there, with no showers or storms around.

So why is it called the tiger island fire?

There are no places referred to tiger island in that area.

It’s the name of a hunting club in the area by ground zero of the fire.

Couple acres, like 2-3. Westlake FD responded and said they will have it under control before midnight so hopefully don’t wake to any surprises. A fire spreading there takes lots of houses and could start causing issues at the plants if it goes north east any.

I'm thinking it is something like that. When they named it and added it to the trackers they said it was named after where it started.

Looking at satellite view, with that road ending where it does, there aren't but a couple places it could be, and you're right....a good many houses are around there.

My Deaf friends hearing kids are ok. Staying in hotel over in DeRidder.

No water or power in Merryville as of now .They are anxious to get back. Really not getting updates.

And the smoke was getting bad off Graybow Road near Neale Oilfield this afternoon .

Evidently the faces from Apple are to much for the hamsters. But, I’m also probably doing something wrong for the face to show up instead of question marks.
