A careful man I want to be
A little fella follows me
And if I dare to go astray he will surely go the self same way

1) No hyphenated last name

2) His DNA says boy. Raise him that way

3) Don't send him away to college. Their professors are some of the weirdest, sickest mofos on the planet. Keep him close, so you can quickly nip their indoctrination in the bud

4) Don't let him go to New Iberia for haircuts

5) Don't let him smoke weed, or look at porn. Both will destroy his brain cells

Change your leadership style according to ages.

0-3 Dictator (benevolent).
3-13 Boss
13-18 Coach
18-25 Counselor/Consigliere
25-on Friend (if you do the others right)

Try to be a friend to your five year old and you will mess him up. He needs a boss. Try to be a boss to your twenty year old and you will mess yourself up. He needs an advisor.

These are not hard and fast lines. One sort of seeps into the other. My oldest son and I are just reaching the friendship stage, and it is the most beautiful thing on the world.

Remember that you will be a God to your son when he is young. Then he will see only your flaws as he enters adolescence. Then he will respect how well you did when he hits the real world.

Good luck. Don't blink.

Worked out fine in my family and countless others. I've seen too many little kids that don't listen and their parents don't do shite about it.

READ THIS ONE, BAW:

Sorry to shout, but this one is very real and very important.

FIGHT THE URGE TO LIVE INSIDE YOUR TELEPHONE.

I see all these parents staring at their phones while their kids are wandering around. Put the fricking phone away if your kids are awake. That instagram shite will be around forever. Your kids are gone in the blink of an eye.

They aren't even born yet and you already assume their gender? That's your first parenting mistake

Enjoy every stage in his life. Don't rush time. You'll find yourself wishing the infant phase would hurry up & be over, then you'll wish the toddler phase would hurry up, be over etc. Before you know it, he'll be a punky arse adolescent (Mine are at this stage now) & you'll wonder where your little boy went.

Get good sleep now because it's all over once that little guy arrives!

Congrats to you both! In a year you'll wonder what you did with all your time & money before he was born :-)

Be hard on him when he knows better but still does the wrong thing. If you start early enough, it will stick. Don't let the woman talk you into "timeout type bullshite.

Of course, when he's a baby, none of this matters. Be with him hugging him at every second of every day, whenever possible.

And at all costs, he ALWAYS sleeps in his own bed, or you won't get laid.

Yes ma'am/No ma'am/Please/Thank you will take him further in life than you'd ever imagine

But this is the OT where there is nothing the mouth-breathers love more than hearing someone brag about hitting their kids. Bonus points if you do it in public.

each kid is different

you have to figure out what motivates that kid

Some are motivated by the carrot while others are motivated by the whip

Some you can talk to and others you have to take things away

Nature of the beast

Let your wife take care of them until about 3 years old. They are built better for it
