But as in the case of a baby photo of my daughter Brenna that was used in a post like this in mid-December (which had been shared more than 23,000 times in a few weeks) we didn’t know it was being used until some of our Facebook followers alerted us — and we definitely did not give permission.

quote:

Here’s what you’re actually doing when you type “Amen” or share the photo on your wall:

1. You’re exploiting what is most likely a stolen image of a child whose family has no idea it is being used.
2. You’re making the owners of the page that posted it or the people who stole the photo and created the post a whole lot of money.

quote:

When you don’t want to be “heartless” so you respond to the request for “One Share = One Prayer” by sharing the image with your friends, you might actually be doing very real harm. Please think twice before you like, comment or share any posts like this on Facebook, so that you’re not participating in the exploitation of children like Brenna.

Warning, TD user accounts are being hacked. Someone will take your profile picture, your username, and then create a new TD account. Then they ask your friends to upvote. Your friends think it’s you and upvote. From that moment, they can write whatever they want under your username. Please DO NOT accept an upvote request from me. Copy this in your sig quote so your friends can see and be warned.

FWIW I have seen a number of new fake facebook accounts in the recent months. My oldest brother, who does not have an account, had his 'name and identity' taken by some random user. How they were able to accurately use his name without an existing profile is beyond my understanding.

Facebook has been a great tool for our society, it exposes in ways previously unavailable the people who you should never, ever take seriously or consider what they say meaningful. It's the best outting mechanism for knuckle dragging retards ever invented.

My profile pic had been stolen and used to create a bunch of dating profiles on different dating sites. Boy! Was my wife mad until I explained it to her.

Happened to a girl in North LA whose son is sick. This person stole the photo, shared the photo saying that the baby had passed away and for people to share and type RIP. I can't imagine what the mother and father dealt with having to deal with that.

Have you ever considered how successful you might have been without 400k posts?
