Why would Spotify not pivot into video hosting service to challenge YouTube?

Is it just the fear of stepping on googles toes? After getting rogan exclusively they should’ve pivoted and grabbed a couple other key figures banned from YouTube already. They would instantly pull millions of viewers, but I’m sure there’s an easy explanation as to why they didn’t I’m just too stupid to think of it.

fricking spotify...
"Do you want to watch a short video for 30 minutes of ad free listening?"
-no
"Ok, here's 4 ads in a row as a thank you since you are clearly in a hurry."

People are bitching about ads on YouTube. What makes you think they'd want to pay to watch videos

They’d be paying to see those who are either censored, banned, or disillusioned by YouTube .

These big tech companies are all on the same side. Should be obvious by now.

Google owns both YT and Spotify

It took a decade for YouTube to be financially viable. That’s why there is no real competition.

Why would you challenge someone you agree with politically?

Apple and Google would delete their app if they threatened the existing social media power structure.

Because it's pretty damn risky to spend all those resources in challenging a giant like youtube. Their approach to focusing on podcasts makes sense and is likely to be more successful.

I'm surprised the big tech companies havent pushed out one by now to rival youtube

Youtube is owned by Google. No one is going to take on Google.

They already have. You can watch Joe Rogan's podcast on spotify and it usually includes more than what's on YT. Also, most bands that actually know how to use the platform include videos with their songs.

Spotify partners with Hulu.
Someone said Spotify is owned by Google, but this is not correct. It is still an independent Corp for now. As I said, it has a growing partnership with Hulu, which is owned by Disney.

Because they're too worried about censoring Joe Rogan
