Strokes are on the rise among younger people, with a recent CDC report revealing a 14.6% increase among people aged 18–44 from 2020 to 2022.

While the alarming trend has been stumping medical professionals, one expert has shared some intriguing theories with The Post.

“We’ve never had patients so young,” said Dr. Mohammad Anadani, Chief of Neuroendovascular Services for the Endeavor Health Neurosciences Institute.

“As for the overall increase in strokes among younger adults, the exact reasons are not fully understood,” he said.

“However, it’s likely related to a rise in traditional cerebrovascular risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity.

“Lifestyle factors like increased stress, long working hours and physical inactivity have also been suggested as contributing factors.”

Fast paced society leads to unintended consequences.

Still, we live longer on average, but there are probably some interesting quirks in the overall data.

Although stroke has long been considered an illness of advanced age, statistics show a startling demographic reversal in recent years. Even while strokes are on the decline in older adults, decreasing by more than 25 percent for people older than 45, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention figures, the chances of stroke have soared alarmingly among people in early adulthood and middle age. From 1994 through 2007, CDC research shows, the rate of ischemic stroke jumped by 47 percent for men ages 35 to 44 and 36 percent for women in the same age group. For men in their early 20s, the number of stroke-related hospitalizations rose by more than 50 percent during that period.

Ischemic stroke, caused by clots, accounts for almost 90 percent of the 800,000 strokes that Americans suffer each year. The remainder are hemorrhagic strokes caused by brain bleeding, or aneurysms, which result in about 40 percent of the nation’s 130,000 annual deaths from stroke. Researchers theorize that improved diagnostic technology could be responsible for at least part of the increase in stroke numbers. An American Academy of Neurology study suggests that the widespread use of highly sensitive MRIs, which can detect tiny brain blockages that CT scans miss, could account for the diagnosis of as many as half of minor ischemic strokes in younger people. But older people also undergo these same increasingly sophisticated MRI tests, and they do not show a corresponding spike in strokes

For the young and middle-aged, the stroke numbers are high enough to cause concern for medical professionals. They point to a familiar roster of risk factors – high cholesterol and blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and lack of exercise – as the main culprits behind the rise in younger-age strokes.

As the nation’s obesity and diabetes statistics skew younger, in other words, so do stroke statistics: A common-sense diet and a half-hour of daily exercise are all it takes for most people to cut their chance of stroke by half, Maidan said.

I'm in the hospital now, had a stroke on Sunday, and I am 40. No Covid Vax, my numbers are good, no high blood pressure, no past medical history, physical in February that was good, and relatively healthy. It happened when I was moving furniture and when I picked it up the box I was dizzy for a moment and then I started speaking gibberish and I knew something was wrong. I went home and my wife asked me something and I tried to speak but she couldn't understand me at all and we went to the hospital. Apparently I have a hole in my heart (1/3 of people have it) and a tiny clot passed through and went to the brain causing an ischemic stroke. I thought is was minor but apparently it wasn't and even though my speech is back to normal and everything is functioning fine the doctor said it wasn't minor. They will put me on blood thinners and will schedule an appointment later to close the hole and it is a routine procedure from what I understand. I think my case it was just bad luck.

Food Addiction is the worst addiction times ten. The worst addicts are food addicts.

At least the majority of hardcore substance abuse druggies will admit their addiction is wrong. Fat mofos glorify and encourage obesity.

20 years ago the entire medical establishment warned people to eat the right foods in moderation. We were already seeing strokes in fat children back then.

But, the mantra of Modern Feminism- Can’t nobody tell me nothing. So we have fat teens dying from strokes.

Combination of poor diet, poor exercise habits, the actual Covid virus itself, and the subsequent vaccine all contribute.
