There were plans at different points to pour a bunch of money into the area. Bishop Arts aside it just never happened. Arlington taxpayers put more money than anyone in Dallas wanted to match for the rangers and cowboys. There is so much back scratching and handouts just ti build pedestrian over passes near the zoo. Really a mess.

The irony is the south side has soft rolling hills and some really nice scenery compared to Plano.

It amazing how much Uptown has developed. Use to be a ghost town.

When I moved to DFW in 94, the tollway ended at Frankford Rd. Then McKinney and Frisco started to grow and we used to joke the metroplex was going to reach Oklahoma soon. Looks like that is coming true.

Uptown was the Barrio until around 2000.

It’s because of the Plano/Frisco corporate boom. If you look at the 121/Tollway intersection, it’s starting to look like the beginning of another downtown city with the skyscrapers building up. All those businesses moving from California need employees, so Prosper/Celina doesn’t seem so far if you’re not driving all the way to downtown Dallas.

It is. If you look at the data that just came out, southern burbs are growing very fast too But the north has proximity to the airport so that tilts growth in their favor. Before DFW airport, many people thought growth would be south because it's prettier.

Demographics. South Dallas is where the minorities live and further south you have trash towns like Venus and Alvarado. Blacks migrated further south and took over Duncanville, then Cedar Hill, then Mansfield. Midlothian is currently the next conquest. The whites are running out of decent places to flee to the south.

Because gentrification is a form of racism. That's what they tell us anyway. When NO got flooded and the people were forced out crime rose everywhere they went. Dallas doesnt want to move these folks out of South Dallas to other parts of the city

South of Dallas is growing. They are building homes at a rapid rate. Ferris has 1000 homesites developing right now with a new subdivision going in with 5000 homesites. Ellis County is growing. Mansfield is growing.

You would think Atlanta would grow north towards Chattanooga and East towards Athens. But again going east you run into bad neighborhoods and aside from UGA Athens is a slum. Same thing south. It’s a shithole.

I live south and it is maddening to hear the newcomers that moved to the “country” only to complain about the lack of restaurants and shopping. I used to live in the country but now we have been annexed and are surrounded by housing developments.

Kind of insane to think Hank Haney had a driving range in the middle of uptown until like 2005
