Been looking around at shades. I found some good looking frames at Maui Jim only to see most are $350+. Just seems way too much for polarized sunglasses. REI has good deals for $50

You aren’t finding good glass sunglasses for under around $100 and most good glass is $200+.

Glass lasts much longer as it doesn’t scratch nearly as easy. But they are heavier.

ETA: downvote all you want, any sunglass under $50 and likely under $100 including ALL oakley's that I know of are polycarbonate lenses aka plastic. People think sunglasses are glass lenses, cheap ones are not.

High quality glass lenses are expenses. I don't disagree they are overpriced also. But they don't scratch easily at all, I've had salesman take a key to MJ's and Costas and rub the glass hard and it won't scratch. Try that with the cheaper options.

95% of charter and commercial fisherman as well as most anyone that drives a boat for a living has high quality glass for a reason.

The #1 reason for wearing high quality glass on the water is clarity which relates to eye strain. Less eye strain is extremely important when you are on the water for 8-15 hours a day.

No reason except ink on plastic. No different than Polo vs Knights of the Round Table.

Then go get those. Don't understand the point of your rambling.

Buy shady rays
They have a scratch replacement guarantee
And a lost sunglass guarantee
They always offer coupons

I know folks that spend all day on the water for work that have all left Costa for Shady Rays. I've been using them for years. Did the lost replacement once. Great company. Great glasses. Especially at that price.

I absolutely disagree. I used to have this mindset, then I found Flying Fishermen shades on Amazon. $25 for a great pair of polarized shades for fishing or any need.

Go classic Ray Bans

You can get polarized easily around $180-210

Even if I wasn't on a tight budget, it's so easy to break or lose them that I prefer the convenience store brands. Maybe I'll check out Dollar General. I need some shades.

Maui Jim customer service sucks. Wouldn't buy them again. I recently got a pair of the lightweight Shady Rays and really like them.

You can buy great sunglasses for $30. Don't be fooled by name brand inflated pricing

I bought mine in 2012 in Maui. I literally thought it was just a small business kiosk owned by Jim the surfer. True story.

I know they are suppose to all be the same but I had a pair and felt the optics were exceptional.. they do no hold up.. scratch easy imo and mine just broke in half when putting them on.. warranty ok but a pain enough to make me angry..

I am bad about abusing glasses.. so I just bought a bunch from Amazon.. I us attcl.. I keep them where I want them so do not abuse them as bad.. I keep a yellow and amber lense pair in car for driving.. a dark black pair by pool.. and dark wrap around pair for bike..

I appear to be less rough if I just put them on or take the off at same location..

Lolz, you think those are polarized? They're not remotely the same level as MJ. Either pay for premium or go cheap and understand you're not getting the same thing.

MJ does best on their lens, not their frames.

Because they are a fashion brand. You can find really cheap jeans at Walmart , too.
