If you're drinking alone on a regular basis people will figure it out pretty quick.

Now that I am a married man, this is the primary way I drink. Saturday night, she goes to bed early, me and my Bourbon have a party with Netflix.

My wife gets upset that sometimes I will knock a 12 pack out binge watching Netflix. She acts like I have some kind of problem.

It's Coors Light. A step above water.

My wife tells me half jokingly I am an alcoholic during the Summer when I am cooking and jacking around the pool on a Saturday after I kill a 12 pack of White Cans before Supper.

I didn’t know it was frowned upon

Heroin is frowned upon though

So were weed and cocaine when we were kids, but then you grow up and realize how much your DARE Officer lied about exactly how bad all these things really are.

I wish schools woukd give kids more credit to understand issues like this and instead of just lying to them about how evil drugs are and trying to scare people into just staying away. In the end the mystery and percieved danger just makes them more attractive to some people.

Instead schools should tell the truth. That snorting a line of heroin isn't going kill you or make you lose your mind, and most people will enjoy the way it feels. But then explain the reality of addiction to them and what addiction leads to. Explain why opiates are easier to get addicted to than cocaine, explain why opiate addiction is so much harder to beat. Explain the long term health effects. Explain how most people who OD are long time users who feel safer, or addicts who are relapsing.

And then when they have a full understanding of how drugs work, tell them that while its best to just abstain, the realty is that most people get curious and experiment. And if you're going to experiment, do it responsibly and as safely as possible, and like with anything else in life moderation is key (you can always do more, but can't do less if you've consumed too much.

Is it really drinking alone if my kids are asleep upstairs and my wife is taking a long bath or playing on her phone in the bed? Pouring a stiff bourbon and watching Saturday evening football happens like 15 weeks straight at my house.

It was all good until you posted here indicating a concern on your part that it might not be good because you have deeper issue than enjoying a few drinks.

When I drink I'm usually an a-hole so it's better for me to be alone. I drink everyday so I guess I'm an a-hole all the time.

Drinking a bourbon with my 3 year old watching some paw patrol. Does that count as not alone?
