Never used it but not sure how my coworkers can afford it. Most of them look like cows and probably don't tip though.

Door dash food is usually sealed when the driver picks it up. Plus, they get to choose or deny which orders they accept. So if they accepted your order, chances are they liked the fee they’d be earning and want to make the delivery.

This was probably a regular pizza delivery driver, not a a Door dash driver.

He just wants attention. None of that shite happened but his life and personality are probably so pitiful that this is his way of being acknowledged by someone.

Tipping generously is one thing...being expected to do so before the service is performed is another.

The tip should be based off of the service received not the expectation...if I tip 25% but get 10% service are door dash drivers going to fork over the difference when they arrive?

If you tip a dollar or two more than normal, it makes a huge difference when you get your food. I don't do it often, but when i do need food late at night i make sure i over tip a bit

Absolutely this.

Look the fees and all of that are already there and the driver doesn’t see this when an order pops up. They just see the minimum amount that they will get. This is how they choose to accept or decline an order.

Many people here don't understand the process.

I see an order. It tells me to go to McDonald's for an order that will pay out at least $7.50. It will tell me my total trip mileage is 4.7 miles.

4.7 x 1.5 (my personal standard) = 7.05. The order is greater than $7.05, I take the order.

If someone hasn't tipped and they live a few miles away your food will sit there forever. If I see anything less than $6 pop up, I don't even consider taking it. Doordash base is usually $2.50, so if you don't tip at least $4 (more if you're 5-10 miles away), you're going to hate Doordash.

i don't get delivery often, but when i do i'll tip ~$7 (on a $15 meal) and get my (hot) food within 25 minutes about 90% of the time

You might already know this, so I'm just saying it generally, but if you tip $7, the order will show up to the driver around $9-10 depending on the base rate. Unless you're way out in the sticks, your driver will accept this immediately and be urgent getting your food to you.

It's well known that people who tip well are also the ones most likely to leave a good review if they're satisfied. If I see a $5 order for a restaurant I'm already at and the person lives 2 houses down from the restaurant, I won't take it because shitty tippers are usually the most critical as well.

Yeah but you don't prepay for the food. If the service is truly bad a quick chat with the manager can get that fixed tip adjusted.

I drive DD on the side and enjoy it. I have NEVER screwed with someone's food. Many times I have had to tell a new employee to seal the bag. I do everything I can to ensure the food gets there hot and in the condition I receive it from the restaurant. I don't care about tips or no tips. I don't accept cheap orders. If it's over $2/mile and somewhere I know I won't have to wait, then I'll take it.

There are many times though that I will pick up somewhere and that food has been sitting. I hate that because I honestly want people to have the best food they can. I also know that will be counted against me, when I did everything I could. It's just part of it. BTW, most of those types of videos are fake just to show off. They aren't really messing with their food on real deliveries. But then again, I have seen some freaky delivery people.

Seriously. Contrary to some people's beliefs, staff does not mess with your food even if you're a raging a-hole.

The worst I ever did was tell the kitchen to put extra sausage in the container of red beans when the lady rudely wanted me to hand-remove each piece of sausage from the pot of beans for her.

The first (and last) time I used Door Dash, I tipped like 30%-40%. It was a nice one. I was going on the thought of exactly what you said.

I had to make several phone calls after an hour went by asking where the driver was. About 2 hours later, the food finally gets to my house cold as ice. I said never again. I'll go pick my food up.

They didn't have the drivers to get you your food and they are terrible about that. I deal with that crap all the time

This tipping shite is far beyond out of control.
