What church? Mine is exactly the same and I’m one of the younger crowd joining in!

I read an article the other day, in parts of Utah people will get to the pickle ball courts at 2a and use the headlights of their car to play. It’s the only time they can get on the court.

There are levels. Former tennis players who are cagey, tend to dominate.
It's about reflexes and vision.

1. Aging population is part of it.
2. Startup costs are fairly low. Some balls and a decent paddle are less than $100.
3. It’s easier for more people to play because the court is about 1/3 size of tennis court and the whiffle ball does not move as fast as tennis ball.
4. It’s fun and welcoming.
5. It’s multigenerational. A grandad can play with his grand daughter. You can play with men, women, old young.

It is also more social than tennis due to the smaller court - kind of like racquetball/squash. Some cul-de-sacs around here are part-time pickle ball courts.

The old racquetball players are pretty good. But, athletic people with good hand eye coordination can compete with tennis players. A lot of the tennis folks have an advantage early but once you play a little it evens out.

It’s like tennis for fat people.

Doesn't seem that way here. It seems like the courts in my town are rarely occupied by anyone over 50. They stay packed, but it's definitely a younger crowd.

It's the fastest growing sport in America even before COVID. it's fun and you get exercise. The man who invented Pickleball named it after his Black Lab Pickles.

For those of you who play tennis, do you think pickle ball makes you better? I can see it helping reflexes at the net as ping pong would.
