It's an epidemic. People are paying more for rent than they would for a mortgage, but they don't qualify for a mortgage.

Central at least has higher standards. No DSLD or Horton.

Cheaper home builders have become an epidemic in Ascension Parish. And these cheaper homes attract undesirables. From my personal observations in short time they begin their decay. I had a patient complain to me about how fast the DSLD development they bought into had declined. She stated within two years of completion there were significant HOA violations nothing was being done about. Our Parish Council pretty much lets developers do what they want. Hence, we have plans to move out of the GBR area to a more rural area.

I thought there was one legislation under Obama that required these type of developments.
It wasn't legislation. It was HUD under Obama who began pushing these sorts of developments into middle and upper middle class areas. They don't even have to pass a law to create rules that force this into areas.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm telling you. Feel free to call them and ask them if they accept section 8 vouchers, but you probably won't because then you'd know you are wrong.

No, because I'm familiar with the developer's financing
I guess then you can tell the developer it's a shithole because the reviews and pictures on Google maps are awful.

They are all over Livingston too. I guess Central doesn't have too many of those types of neighborhoods. There have been some apartments out there since the 80s or longer though.

you think folks with section 8 vouchers are limited to the ghetto? They are absolutely being used in Shoecreek

How can you find this out? I live in an apartment in Houston and it was nice just a year and half ago. About 6 months ago, it changed ownership and has quickly taken a turn for the worse. Unsupervised kids everywhere, litter, they even stole the water hose from the car wash bay and the complex won’t replace it. Something changed but my rent just renewed at the same price and I signed because I don’t feel like moving yet.

The law was passed a long time ago.

How can you find this out?
Count the number of Nissan Altimas in the parking area. If they number 10% or greater, you've got Section 8.

The simple solution to at least minimize this downward trend is to say that the minimum for ALL new developments is a 1/3 acre lot and 1800 square foot home, and put in requirements to mitigate any additional flooding they may have otherwise contributed to. Do this, with NO EXEMPTIONS.

frick anybody that wants to buy a house for less than $300k.

Basically, there's crackheads walking around yelling at people, the stores there are increasingly run-down. The workforce increasingly ghetto and providing bad/messy service. These peoples' kids go to Central schools.

How are you going to have employees for all of these places when the people making those wages can't afford to live in your Utopia?

And the Chargers and Challengers have increased tremendously. I’m ok with the Mexicans, they have large family events outside but always clean up and end before it gets late. The worst thing about living around Mexicans is that you constantly have nails in your tires.

The other, just throws their trash near the dumpster and is loud loud loud. The difference is immediately noticeable.

Pretty nice development.

I thought all or part of it was age restricted…like an old folks home.

Read the reviews. Looks nice from the outside but is cheap crap in the build.

This is always the rallying cry for developers. Then ten years later, the whole place is a shithole.

How many of us commute more than a few miles? It's not like Central is some isolated place where you have to live and work there. It's like 3 miles from BR
