Why don't states require orange vests for cops when beside the road?

Everybody else has to wear a bright orange reflective vest.

Don't preach to me about driving safety when cops are allowed to wear gray, asphalt colored uniforms when makinga traffic stop.

Reminds me of the time I got a seat belt ticket from a motorcycle cop.

Eta: Actually used this argument in court before my trial started and the DA laughed and let me off.

Did you ask him where his was at?

Honestly if I was a motorcycle cop and I was having a good day, I'd probably laugh and let you go.

OSHA will happily fine your company loads of money if you are within a road ROW without a vest.

Care to answer the question? Why is LE exempt from OSHA rules enforced on everyone else?

Flashing lights don't cut it for anyone else working in a road ROW.

Laws were passed to make motorists move over to another lane during traffic stops, with associated PSA's to lecture us. Yet for some reason the police themselves don't practice the basic safety measure of wearing a visible traffic vest. Why?

Take a look at how much equipment a cop is required to wear.

Putting on a traffic vest would be distracting and awkward to do while conducting what can be a very dangerous traffic stop.

Because OSHA doesn't apply to state/local governments. It's right there in black and white OSHA bylaws.

I see cops wearing yellow reflective vest all the time....but it's not a law or required and I think that's what the OP is wondering, why isnt it

Did you run over a cop or something? I'm having a little trouble understanding why this bothers you so much
