I hear ya. At least once a week, I take a pic of a truck overturned on my route. But, as long as there are deliveries to be made, some trucker will haul it.

Would not make a difference in Louisiana. It's mostly regular passenger vehicles that seem to drive slow and/or stupid, clogging up traffic.

Many truckers do their driving at night, you should thank those guys.

You have some big trucks that are limited to 60 or 65mph. That causes huge backups. You also have the underpowered ones going up grades, that end up creeping at 5mph. A lot of trucks rely on speed to get them up grades. Can't do that if they're behind 80k worth of grandma.

IMHO, all major cross-country interstates should be a minimum of 6 lanes everywhere. Trucks should be limited to the #2 and #3 lanes only. No exceptions

Would you drive to the nearest railroad track to pick up said loaf of bread?

Big trucks actually help traffic flow on interstates during rush hour. Passenger vehicles constantly stopping and going is what causes backups

Totally agree. Think about the fuel economy increases!!!

If they go 120 mph they save gas

So you're suggesting the city should step in and put a blanket mandate on when businesses can receive freight deliveries?

o basically make I-12 and I-20 1 lane for trucking and 1 lane for everything else.

no reason why that wouldn't work.

ding ding ding. Truckers aren't usually the problem. the fricking idiots in passenger vehicles are. Need evidence, just watch people trying to merge/exit at I10/I49. absolute retards for the most part.

I'd estimate 80% of people I drive by are playing with their phones in some fashion. Do police care? Nope

If you've ever been outside your local burg then you'll understand that trucks in Europe can't use the fast lane in many areas on freeways.

That's what this sign means:

It works better that way.

But more of them play by the rules of the road when driving (on average) than we do here so you can drive whatever speed there and we can't trust our morans to do so here.

The autobahn is great when it's open road but when there's more traffic it can get annoying to have to navigate between one lane going 60mph and the other going 120.

I've driven in Germany, Spain, Scotland, Australia, Jordan, Israel, and Kuwait...and US drivers are the absolute worst by a HUGE margin.

The Koreans are way worse than us if it makes you feel any better.

Yeah...but trucks are usually the cause of the biggest traffic issues during those times.

In Nashville, it’s pretty much a guarantee that a big rig will overturn somewhere in/around town between 3 & 4 every Friday.

It happens in Baton Rouge 4-5 times per week.

The NJ turnpike restricts 18 wheelers from the left hand lanes.

That would be great on I-20 from East Texas through North Louisiana where it's so hilly. Dang trucks get in the left lane to pass another truck, get to a hill, and their speed starts dropping back down. Might take five or six miles for them to get around the other truck. Your stuck behind them, cussing away.
