If I ever do get pregnant...I'm eating peanut butter every damn day cause I've read it can help prevent nut allergies in the baby.(Goes with the theory of introducing them earlier to peanuts...can't get earlier than the womb)

This must be a rumor. My Wife ate peanuts the entire pregnancy. She loved boiled peanuts and our baby still ended up with peanut allergies.

And why is it a big deal if your kid cant have peanuts at school?

Because OP is an ignorant, heartless arsehole. My little girl is anaphylactic to cashews and pistachios and it is extremely scary. She’s the sweetest little 3 year old and to say that she should be exiled to a “special” school because of something she has no control over is just disgusting.

It is rigoddamndiculous. My kid has to bring an afternoon snack. We're at the store and I'm trying to get him to hurry the frick up and pick something... I'm like "what about these peanut butter crackers?" and he says "We can't bring anything with peanuts"

WTF... if your kid is so fricked up that the entire school has to be on peanut lockdown then it's time to put your kid down to rid the human species of your fricked up gene pool.

Saying kids should know what they can and cant eat doesnt work. Hell, I'm a grown arse adult and have nearly killed myself accidentally eating products I didnt realize have peanuts in them. I've even somehow made a PB&J (thought it was the soy butter jar) and fed it to my allergic kid without realizing it. You cant expect kids to be that dilligent

Well don't take this the wrong way, but you just sound like a complete idiot.

The problem with peanuts is people THINK it is an airboerne allergy.

The vast majority of people by far don’t think that. But if pb gets on you and you are allergic then bad things can happen. The issue is kids accidentally or intentionally getting pb on another student, especially around their face can cause a reaction. I’ve never heard anyone say it’s an airborne allergy.

Why is a big deal to send your kids to a special school for medical needs?

Because with anything you give an inch they take a mile. Peanuts are first, then nuts of all kinds.
Next they will just make all kids buy school lunch.

Sorry your little girl has health issues. Others shouldn't be impacted though.

I understand you and others are trying hard to be edgy but how are others really impacted? My kids love peanut butter but can't take it to school, it's never been an issue. I've never actually heard of any parents in real life complain about it, only on here and occasionally someone will post a meme on FB about it.

A long time ago the geeks and spazzes were segregated into "the gifted program". Now I think they call them "magnet schools".

I like the way you think.

The onus needs to be on the allergic. Not everyone else. Special room, special table something. Separate but equal, like the Jehoviah Wittness kids during sex ed or holiday stuff.

They don't do a seperate GT anymore. In our area. You take the testing and place into an "A" school. The alternative is a lottery into another "A" school. The local Catholic "A" or "B" school or gong to public school which in Kenner is the "F"rated Roosevelt.

I ate peanuts all the time as a child but still developed a mild peanut allergy later in life.

I don’t think allergies are as cut and dry as non-exposure, but what do I know? My kid was given almonds and peanut butter at an early age and does not have an issue with either. However, cashews, pistachios, and walnuts can kill her. It’s scary as shite and comes as a surprise when that first reaction happens.

I realize that as a parent it’s my responsibility to make sure she knows what she can and cannot eat. That being said, it is also nice to know that when I’m not there, there are certain institutions with policies in place to help protect my kid. How big of a pain in the arse is it really to not have these items in a school? If that’s your biggest concern that peeves you enough to warrant a post on a forum then I would say you are doing pretty well. I bet your kid doesn’t give a shite about it...why do you?

Her fit today when we took the pistachios out of her lunch prompted the thread.
