My dad's best friend from high school is high up in the legal scene in the city and (attempts) to work with Destroya regularly.
He says the woman is arrogant, condescending, and practically unapproachable about anything and will not work with anyone who disagrees with her and her agenda. He's lived in NOLA his whole life and says Destroya easily go down as the worst mayor in the city's history.
I don't even live in NOLA and I hate that woman.

It’s because she’s ignorant. She doesn’t have the mental capacity to reason or negotiate. She’s drunk on power and insecure.
She’s a clown. She’s a thug. She’s a crook. Her husband is a thug and a crook.
They are horrible, nasty people that will end up in jail. I have no doubt.
People like her and her husband hit rock bottom. She’s in a downward spiral and if you’re connected to her in any capacity she’s going to take you down with her.

Not reading this whole thread, but I think it comes down to a few things. Note I'm speaking about her actual actions in office, not her personality or her husband's failure to pay income taxes or the stuff she did on council.
1) Pre-Hard Rock Collapse, I don't think she was that bad. But her handling of that situation was a crash course in how not to manage in a crisis. She was very Blanco-ish in her response, which is why the damn building is still standing. No, the city didn't cause the disaster, but she should have used her standing to push for a quicker resolution.
2) Yes, other places have had tight COVID restrictions, but she seems to take a weird joy in this power she has found for herself. In the beginning, the city was in bad shape. But since about May and perhaps a little earlier, the city is in much better shape than the state as a whole, so it's completely asinine that the city has more restrictions than the state as a whole.

I live in Orleans, voted for the other candidate, and have absolutely despised Latoya from day 1 of her campaign. I haven't read through this thread but I'll give my reasons:
1) She used a City Counsel Credit Card for personal use while on the Counsel. At best unethical, at worst illegal.
2) She has a huge Federal Tax Lien.
3) She ran on a worthless, Social Justice Warrior campaign that supported anti-gentrification
4) She also ran on a very Anti-Business campaign which is not what this city needs
5) She did not show up to the Hard Rock site for a LONG time, leaving a lot of speculation as to what she was doing while a crisis was spinning out of control
6) The Hard Rock still sits and sat for a very long time because she could not make up her mind
7) She absolutely BOTCHED Mardi Gras this past year, overreacting to the fatalities and ruining several crews, maybe permanently
8) Her Coronavirus shutdown is beyond absurd, totally draconian, and is ruining businesses, and why?
9) She has FLAT OUT SAID that she is shutting down the city so she can get Federal Funds
10) She further said that the Saints can't have fans until SHE gets Cares Act money.
11) Her Medical advisor is an SJW Lunatic that is dealing something beyond her capacity
12) She is not from New Orleans
13) She is clearly not very smart and is completely out of her depth.
14) Everyone who deals with her says she is impossible, arrogant, and just all around difficult to deal with.
15) She told business owners she was not going to help them and to frick off essentially.
In short, she is a despicable human being and is in WAY over her head.
