I grew up there in the 90s and had a great childhood there, but I have no desire to live there or visit. My dad still lives there and the only time I visit is if I'm driving through.

It’s mostly joking but it does seem like the random crazy crime that happens on the northshore happens in Slidell.

People only know the interstate intersection and maybe some areas around the congested gause Blvd but Slidel has some of the nicest home and properties in the south eastern part of the state.
Go drive Bayou liberty. Look at the estates back there. Look at Bayou Bonfouca. Real nice properties.
Katrina actually improved some areas. Old Rats Nest drive is now a decent place.
I’m not a big fan of the lake frontage subdivisions but there’s some very nice places over there.
Even the old town area has some nice restaurants, shops and bars. The old train depot is cool.
I’m not from Slidell but have been here several years. I love to fish and hunt and it provides me some of the best access Around.
People that diss it have no clue.

Extremely nice. Slidell is also the home of Louisiana's best living artist, George Dunbar. His property on Bonfuca is amazing.

People would have a better opinion of Slidell if Scuttlebutts had hotter chicks on the billboard.

Slidell is the westbank of St. Tammany.

An honest assessment isn’t a diss. As stated Slidell has some really good people, but you are listing the nicest areas and acting as though they are a true representation of Slidell.
It would be like saying St. Charles Ave is a true representation of New Orleans.
While Slidell is not Bogalusa, it is (and has been) in a state of slow decline since Katrina.
Congrats on living the good life. I’m envious.
However, what you describe is your situation, not that of Slidell as a whole.

What city doesn't get a bad rap on here?

I think you have former Tulane and Tampa Bay Bucs QB Shaun King mixed up with the social media grifter and race agitator Shaun King

Please explain how Chalmations have anything to do with the crime in Slidell. Before Katrina, Chalmette was one of the safest places to live in the southern part of the state.

Chalmations are the blackest white people there is. We brought a massive drug problem there.
We don't shoot over it, but there's a lot of property crime committed by addicts
it also doesn't help that we're talking about the epicenter of David Duke country

Do you mean the Superfund cleanup site?

Slidell has/had lots of things to laugh at: Scuttlebutt, Pink Panther trailer park, the lot lizards at the truck stop, proximity to Pearl River, the Chicken Drop, the proliferation of Bama fan license plates, Gause Blvd nightclubs, etc. Overall, Slidell has a meth-y feel that Mandy/Madisonville/Covington don’t have. The Parish Seat is in Covington for a reason.
But Slidell has a lot going for it for outdoorsmen, too, like easy access to Old Salt Bayou, the Pearl River, the boat launch at Ft Pike, Ft Pike itself is just kinda cool, easy drive to the Gulf beaches, fishing at the Rigolets, Rat’s Nest Road, Jane Mansfield’s dismembered head, etc.
It just comes down to the fact that Slidell’s vibe is more like redneck parts of Mississippi or Alabama than the vibe from towns to the west.

This is actually a very fair point. I don’t know if she’s still there but one of the dancers used to have a prosthetic leg.
I never went to many strip clubs but I feel like cold metal rubbing up against me would kill the mood

To me, it’s the definition of a mediocre place to live. There’s a lot worse in LA, for sure, but I wouldn’t want to live there.

Been to Old Towne a few times and I got a Fat City vibe to it. Very trashy but had a great time.

The previous administration sold the people out and brought a ton of Section 8 in. It will get worse. Hopefully the casino and Amazon center will help keep that at bay
The chicken drop there was fun

So you make a racist statement and then accuse us Chalmations of being racists...you're truly an idiot
