Yeah, because preteens and teenagers never break rules. Everyone that says this is a Neanderthal

My kids rarely do and when they do they have consequences. Go on and keep coddling your kid. It will be your fault when they struggle in life.

No I promise taking the child's phone away will teach them a lesson. You think if the kid doesn't follow the rules he cares if he gets detention???? You want to teach kids to follow the rules have real consequences. I am all for this and if my kid brought their phone to school and they got it taken away I would be all for the punishment. I teach my kids there are real consequences when you don't follow the rules. Too many parents let their kids off with a slap on the wrist or nothing at all. That is why we are in the shape we are now.

Then take it away, your kid no problem. What if I'm a single parent working nights and the kid needs the phone after school? Schools shouldn't be taking the phone, paid for by the parents, for three days.

Okay, but it should be up to the parent if the phone is taken away. Punish the child at school, detention or whatever and notify the parents. Take the phone away while the child is at school, but when the child leaves school the phone should be with them.

No state law that bans cell phones in schools. School administrators are not law enforcement anyway. So on what grounds do they have to confiscate my personal property and refuse to return it for 3 days? This type of policy doesn't seem like it would stand up well to a legal challenge. Just wait til school takes away the phone of a lawyer's kid and refuses to give it back to the parents.
