Why does Jackson, Mississippi make me feel gross?

I can go to Montgomery, Birmingham, Mobile, hell I can even go to Memphis and not feel gross
But when I go to Jackson I feel like I need to take a shower every 10 minutes

Everything is underfunded. Successive administrations ran out businesses and sales tax revenue. Criminal justice system is a joke. 90% unwed birthrate leads to 30% or more poverty rate and high crime rate. F schools.

I’ve been there a couple of times in the last year for meetings in a downtown office building. I thought the capital area was pretty nice.
