It’s because of lack of consistent quality between franchises. Some Burger Kings are good and some are awful. I rather not risk going to one that I am unfamiliar with because of this. At least with McDonalds, Chik fil-A, and a few others, you get consistent quality whether mediocre or good.

The BK closes to me rarely has people there. And it seems like other BKs usually has less customers than all the other places. Is this an accurate assessment?

For the same reason Kentucky Fried Chicken is now KFC. Easy to remember and pronounce for the younger generation.
