Flight Attendants are working longer and longer, which leads to less open positions. Delta also likes to hire from within, which means you are getting an older crowd. Would you rather have a seasoned veteran in a crash situation, or some attractive moron fresh on the job?

I agree on all levels of this statement down to feel good bull shite stories too. Sometimes life hands you a bowl of shite and you should pretend and force others to pretend that it is delicious. I hate the stories about kids in wheelchairs playing in high school football games and I hate stories about out of place people wanting certain jobs.

I've had two flights in the past week on American with a hot stewardess on each. But those are first I've seen, maybe ever.

A hot chick. The seasoned vet isn't really gonna do anything to save my life and if it's a hot chick at least I get to look at something pretty while I crash and burn

Yeah, Jcorye's premise was kind of weird. In a "crash situation", I'm a little more dependent on the pilots.

This thread reminds me of a particular flight I took back in the late 80s. Left BTR going to Denver. Changed planes in Dallas and the flight was a either a DC 10 or L1011 continuing on to some place in the Pacific. There were probably 10 - 12 FAs and every damn one was a 9+. I have flown a lot but that flight just stands out.
Unfortunately, times have changed and flying is just a job to most people now. It shows every time I get on a plane...sad !

There is a constant negativity surrounding the type of customers that crowd airplanes these days, so if you were attractive and had other options would you want to deal with the unwashed masses and get paid peanuts as well?
