The difference is the crazy conservatives have been around for decades and have not achieved mainstream appeal within the party. In fact you could argue conservatives are more irreligious than ever.
This new religion in the left is very new and has mainstream appeal within the top ranks of the democratic party.
Elizabeth Warren, a presidential candidate within the democratic party said she would never okay any educational reform until an 8 year old transgender girl approved it.

The Democrats during primary campaigns literally held a Presidential Candidate LGBTQLMNOP town hall meeting televised on national TV where they marched toddlers to the mic in front of Dem Presidential candidates and did this same shite. Proudly displayed their very young children and professed at the mic their love for their "trans" child etc... to rousing applause from the crowd and the candidates. Then you had the psycho black tranny interrupt that shite show and make a spectacle of him/herself screaming about black trans people being "erased" and CNN and white people don't care... It was some of the most batshit insane stuff I have ever seen in the mainstream political arena in this country. That is your party, bro. Own it. Don't try to claim this isn't the kind of nonsense mainstream liberals have embraced.

The religious right and their Jesus camps are starting to look like fairly minor infractions when it comes to how we are dealing with children within the progressive paradigm.
