Because to a young person anyone over 50 looks ancient.

Boomers are a group split roughly in half between stereotypes. The early half were hippies. The later half were socially the near polar opposite, yuppies.
It's why the "boomer" moniker so often misses the mark.

The Silent Generation is defined by the Pew Research Center as people born between 1928 and 1945. In 2024, this means that members of the Silent Generation are between 78 and 96 years old.
The term "Silent Generation" refers to the children of the Great Depression and World War II, who were expected to be seen and not heard. The label also refers to their conformist and civic instincts, and contrasts with the anti-establishment Boomers.
However, the Silent Generation was not actually silent. Many of the most influential voices in the civil rights movement were part of this generation, including:

35 year old millenial here, most of my peers' parents were born in the late 50's to mid 60's so while they're younger Boomers they're still boomers if they were born before 65'.

Boomers in general are the parents of millennials. Gen X are in general the parents of Gen Z

On the flip side anyone in college is still called a millennial by older people.

The next Vice President and probably 48th President is a Millennial. Latchkey Gen X losers completely skipped and BTFO.

There is just not that many of us. Be we certainly had the most fun given the fact that there are more millennials than Gen Xers.

Man..one comment sure got the millennials riled up.

This whole generational thing is bullshite anyway. Every individual is different. I work with a ton of millennials and once you praise them for doing their job and give them clear instructions on what to do next they perform really well!

I’m 34, my parents are in their 60s. They are late boomers
Very typical, too. My kids are 33 and 38 and I'm 63. A late boomer. They've recently started calling us Gen Jones. The late boomers who grew up in the 70s have little in common with the ones who grew up in the 50s and 60s. Much more in common with early Gen X. Makes sense because the generation is solely defined by years with a higher birth rate.

it is one of the defining characteristics of millennials. It is why the generation is bigger than zoomers and gen x

Yep...this REALLY pisses me off, too. In my opinion, we're the most pragmatic of the current generations, largely due to the whole "latchkey" deal, coupled with being raised in a relatively peaceful world. "Come as You Are" sums up the majority view of GenX....we don't give a frick about your clothes, your whining, your happiness, your sexuality, your religion....are you a good person? Good. Are you a POS? Go frick yourself.
Instead, we have the spoiled arse boomers and the dummy silents running shite, soon to be followed by needy arse millenials. The US, and the world, are going to miss out if we don't elect a GenX POTUS.
