I personally love college football Saturdays. Only get a handful of good ones per year. Plenty of other days to do the shite OP mentioned.
This!
I don't follow most sports anyway, but college football is one of the most enjoyable things in the world to me.
And it's not just the games itself, it's boiling peanuts in the morning, grilling in the evening, and usually involves gathering with friends or family to watch.
When it cools down there is always gumbo cooking on Saturdays to have for the games.

Everything about a college football Saturday is pure magic. It’s what life’s about. Spending time with people you love, eating good food, and getting away from work and politics for a while.
As for Church, religion can go frick itself. You do not need church to live a meaningful life or have morals.

I've always treated these hobbies more as escapes, mainly video games and watching sports. But now they are becoming more and more politicized, and I am beginning to get turned off from them. Well, mainly sports that is. At least with games I can completely isolate myself from the world. I follow a lot of gaming YouTube channels, but I cannot stomach watching them atm due to all the virtue signalling. Seems like everyone in that field is a social justice shill, not knowing what they are actually supporting.

Most people while away their life plugged into televisions. It’s sad. As another poster said above, it’s good to have options. I gave up on the pros years ago. I won’t waste my time on that unless it’s the playoffs maybe. I can envision giving up on college (semi-pro, really) and just watching high school ball.

Who is a homewrecking whore?
Liz is. She is fricking an unemployed married man. Apparently that is the best she can attract
Poor wife though. Not only is her husband stepping out....he’s not even employed.

I have begun to view sports solely as entertainment and I believe that has changed my life for the better. With that I have becoming increasing critical of those often wearing sports team related clothing.

Same here, but I think it's doomed. I think football in general is doomed.

Maybe people don’t like homewrecking whores that mess around with married men
ETA: The married person stepping out on their marriage is trash. But so is the person knowingly messing around with someone married. Both just pure trash.

I think it will be ok in the long run, but I'm worried about this season with the Covid BS. Can't trust the nimrods in academia and politics to use any common sense, so this season will be a cluster frick.

There are many industries that make money off that ball moving around.

Because it’s fun...
You can spend the rest of the week outdoors/exercising/etc

I had that realization a few years back. Totally changed my attitude. Just didn't care any longer.
Exactly. Professional sports were on a big attendance decline before COVID19. I would not be surprised if people have gotten to their limits with professional sports and all their constant complaining. At this point, I could care less about professional sports.

How much less?
Yes attendance has been on a decline, but the television/internet related revenue has sky rocketed.
Will be interesting to see how this all plays out. The big advertisers will still pay to play in the short term to show that they care, etc. If viewership and clicks start declining, that will start changing.
