Why do we need to “Press 1” for English?

I've heard "Para español, oprima el dos" and the rest of the menu was English.
Real question is why do you press 1 for English and get someone who doesn't speak English.

This seems to be more of a phenomenon people bitch about on Facebook than something I encounter in real life. I hear the Spanish message, but can’t recall ever hearing to press 1 for English.

Spanish is not being retained at a high rate with each passing generation. It will always be around, but its not going to be as dominant as you may think...
