pronunciation =/= inflection

This was during a graduation ceremony. It was conspicuous not just because the announcer was doing it at all but because he was doing it only for Hispanic names and not student names that were clearly from other ethnicities.

I think we should do this. Imagine a skilled news anchor describing several urban youths attempting to rob a Pakistani-owned convenience store, only to be foiled by some white person named Molly or Patrick or whatever. As the youth say, that would "slap."

Maybe diversity really is our strength...

My dad ordered Chinese food with a Chinese inflection. Sounded awful.

Think Dave Chappell Chinese voice.

Most English people pronounce the Spanish name "Silva" as "Silver"

and also pronounce "Silver" as Silva
