re: Why do so many people like to lie about how many steps they take a day?

My watch confirms my total of steps. I can show other what I accomplished if challenged if I feel the need to mention steps in the first place.

Seems like you're a little starved for attention by making thread like this.

I dont think I've ever had a step conversation with coworkers.

i'm 58.
the luxe looks like a small black band, similar to the old yellow 'livestrong' bracelets everyone used to wear.
battery life is like 3 weeks. i take it off for about an hour to fully charge then put it back on and forget it exists..its on when i'm mowing, showering, sleeping...i forget i'm wearing it until it notifies me the battery is low.
it tracks blood oxygenation levels, sleep patterns, heart rate, ecg/AFib events, steps, distance, auto-detects exertion/cardio load, resting heart rate, calories burned 'estimate'...
my favorite feature is if you set an alarm for say, 6am..it will find an optimal time to wake you up (it waits until you're in a light sleep mode so its not waking you from a satisfying deep sleep) and silently vibrates on your wrist somewhere between 5:45 and 6.
sometimes i go days without looking at it or the data..you just wear it and forget it.
but its fantastic to look at all my stat reports over the last several years and good data to share with your doctor; as opposed to lying or not knowing.
is it going to save my life? probably not..but i do at least know my heart is generally working normally as it will alert me if anything weird happens.

My coworker that lets the rest of us know how many steps he walked is the fattest in the office.
I always laugh as he tells us while I eat my Doritos.

lol bullshite, talk about lying. Literally 25k steps is over 2 straight hours of walking at a steady pace
When you hear people talk about how much walking is involved at Disney, it’s roughly 25k steps
You are not getting that with yard work. Not close. Get better tracker

I have a really hard time believing anything anyone ever tells me. I think everyone always lies about like almost anything.
In real life or on here. Call it trust issues or whatever. Whether it’s blatantly lying or exaggerating the truth well beyond reason. People do it.

Years ago, when the fitbit craze was in, I had a coworker would insist she got as many steps as I did everyday. My day included an hour on the track, she never left her office.
Well, finally I called BS, borrowed her fitbit for an afternoon to prove my point. I got 2-3K steps sitting in my office chair for a few hours.
Not all trackers are equal.
3 miles = 5900ish steps for me. Hard to get 10k steps in the office.

you want to place a ban bet on that one? keep in mind i have a push mower and well over an acre of grassy areas, beds, multiple battery swaps, pulling weeds, edging, trimming, blowing...
i'm right here.

eta hell, i wanted to run string lights for my back garden and that required 350' of lights alone. imagine just pulling weeds from that area.

I got coworkers claiming 10-15K steps and they barely want to get off their arse to get work done. Mostly with big pot bellies.

Step counters have ruined people’s perception.
