thats a great deal.

personally I would go with a small diesel hatchback over a prius if I was wanted the maximum MPG out of my car. something like a vw polo. gets 75 mpg

Middle aged house moms in over sized SUV's that cost more than their Livingston Parish DSLD house are more of a problem on the road. I've also never had any problem with Prius drivers.

Polo isn't sold in the U.S.

Prius averages around 50 mpg on gas that is (at least where I live) around 15% cheaper than diesel. That means that you would need to get an average of about 57.5 mpg on the diesel for comparable fuel costs. Try to find a new model diesel sold in the US that averages above 57 mpg and will hold 5 passengers for less than $30k.

Batteries aren't dying on the Prius like people thought they would, and they continue to sell very well. If you are a commuter, you can drive it pretty cheaply and still have some value in it when you are ready to sell.

Not a US model...doesn't have US emission controls, which greatly reduce fuel efficiency.

Prius drivers and truck nut baws are different sides of the same coin.

Never had any problems with Prius drivers. On my daily interstate commute I have noticed that most of the Priuses I see are in the left lane doing 90 mph.

Drivers in jacked up picks are incredible aggressive. I always wonder what's up with that.

I tend to have more issues with guys in huge trucks that don't know how to drive or park them

The guys who care about what other guys drive also care about other guys' clothing

It's fairly normal for most of them to have an attitude. Many seem to think they are superior to everyone else because they are driving a car that is identifiable as a hybrid. It's a status symbol. If it wasn't, they'd be driving a Malibu hybrid, Fusion hybrid, or Camry hybrid that look like normal cars.

Volt and Leaf drivers are also not very pleasant.

The attitude is probably worse now that they are also dealing with Trump winning.

people who drive jacked up trucks have attitudes
people who drive corvettes have attitudes
people who drive rice rockets have attitudes
people who drive priuses have attitudes

its not relegated to just one car type.

which is funny cause the gas they do put in the car has to come from somewhere. and all that plastic in the the car and solar panels, and lead in the batteries.

Along with all the electric car people. where do they thing that electricity comes from?

That would be the Brooksville or Crystal River area, possibly The Villages. You can't live in those areas unless you're at least 75 years old.

Although I agree about the smugness of Prius drivers, I think it may be the age of that area's population.

Oddly enough, i believe the diesel Jetta got better mileage and power with the higher emissions tune. Hence the fudging.

Curious, why not a Volt? Reliability? Get 50 miles 100% battery, hybrid after that. Diesel Golf out mpg'd a prius if I remeber correctly.
