Drugs could be the result of them being poor.
Poor people are usually less educated so they are more likely to make decisions that are stupid.
But poor people who smoke, they might not be able to pay the utility bill or have enough money to feed themselves for a whole month, but them mother frickers will find cigerrettes. And they are usually chain smokers.

Nothing you mentioned is exclusive to poor people.
Tattoos - Pro Athletes and Movie Stars are loaded with them.
Smoke cigarettes. All walks of life do this. It's not relegated to the poor.
